Highly Carved Antique Victorian Oak Newel Post Cap in Original Condition
Here's a very ornately carved cap to an oak newel post which must have come from some impressive Victorian building. This would look stunning either built into a stairway of a Victorian home or as an interesting accent piece. There are a few chips. Bumps and nail holes and it is also quite dirty. But I'll leave any cleaning to the new owner. Although beautiful as is. The original quartersawn oak finish would certainly benefit from a little oil and wax to bring out the grain. It measures 21" tall by a maximum width of about 9 1/2" and weighs in at a hefty 17 pounds of solid oak. Shipping is $16 within the US only and pick up in person is free. Good luck!

Antique Solid Oak Architectural Carved Victorian Newel ? Post Column Pillar
Solid oak post or column measuring about 23 1/4" tall. The diameter of the plain end measures about 5" and the other end where the carving is measures about 7" in diameter. Some areas of the column are straight cut oak while on 2 sides there is tiger oak grain showing. This piece is unfinished. The end with the carving is flat on the bottom while the other end is concave.There is a small piece of the turned ring near the carved portion that is missing. Also there is a tight age crack extending about 2" long from the end of the plain side and some dark spots on the turned ring on the bottom. Thank you for viewing. Antique Victorian Vintage Oak Fluted Tapered Columns 22-1/4"H x 5"D Pair
This auction is for one pair of drop-dead gorgeous Victorian White Oak Fluted and Tapered Columns. Typically these would have been found on the upper deck of a fireplace mantle. Separated by a beveled glass mirror(see last photo- this mantle is for reference only and is NOT included in the auction) These columns measure 22-1/4" high overall with 5" diameter at the base. Detailed dimensions as follows(please feel free to ask if I'm not clear about a measurement) base 5" x 5" x 5/8" one only) plinth 1-1/8"H overall(1-1/16" 7/16" plinth lower 5.093"D(16" circumference) plinth upper 4.456"D(10" circumference) cap lower 3.661"D(11-1/2" circumference) cap upper 3.263"D(10-1/4" circumference) cap ring 5/16" column 22-1/4"H overall. flutes 20"H. flutes ... more3.183"D(10" circumference) at top. flutes 3.819"D(12" circumference) at base. flutes 3/16"W x 5/16" between. The columns come in their original finish and patina. Not molested(re-touched or re-finished) in any way. I believe it is shellac(becomes slightly tacky when tested with denatured alcohol) The finish is finely crazed(crackled) in the flutes. There is the occasional small bruise. Most often on the base plinth. There is also one very thin shrinkage/glue crack on each column, running parallel with the flutes. I wouldn't have known they were there, except the finish has slightly darkened and dulled along these cracks. One plinth base is missing, but this could be easily duplicated. Since I've not removed the caps or plinths. I'm not sure whether these columns are solid or hollow. The shrinkage cracks might suggest hollow, whereas the weight(about 6lbs each) suggests solid. This is a lot of 2 pieces of carved oak trim. They are aprox. 39" long x 2- 2 1/4" wide. One os 1 3/4" thick and the other is 1 1/4" The close up pictures show the detail on the backs which is different for each piece. We will gladly combine lots whenever possible to save on shipping costs.

Lot of 2 Pieces Antique Victorian Newel Post Stair Salvage Parts Oak
The front pieces are 38 3/4" long and 38 1/2" long. The side pieces are 4 1/2" wide and 5 1/4" wide. The tops have a very pretty carved design on them. Pr. Victorian Carved Gothic Elizabethan oak Lion Heraldic Newel post finials
Pair of Circa 1890 English carved oak newel post finials in the form of heraldic lions holding shields. Matched pair are mirror image. Hand carved pieces guaranteed 19th c. Elizabethan Tudor style. These were cut off a larger section of post and so do not have screw holes on bottom. I have been keeping them for a future project or stairs, but I'm letting go of some projects. These lions are fantastic pieces and measure 8" tall. They sit evenly and flat. just need a mounting hole drilled.
