Corner raised Garden Box~Repurposed out of Salvaged wood~solid!Michigan
Hi up for auction I have a raised corner garden planter or bed. Made from salvaged wood. We have two to pick from. I bought the plans online( they were $400.00) My partner and I made the planter boxes from recycled high school bleechers. All of the picket pieces were hand made from the bleechers. I have added a newel post at the back. The bottom of the planters are made from new wood. The planters are too large and heavy for me to sell at antique shows.The planters are very solid and sturdy. My partner is a professional cabinet maker, so the craftsmanship is top rated. Antique Mahogany Newel Post and 12' Railing - SOLID WOOD - Architectural Salvage
Available here is an antique newel post and railing. These are made of solid mahogany. No veneer here. You can't get anything like this anymore! The newel post stands almost 5' high. It is approximately 57" from floor to top of finial. It is in three pieces, a square base with a rounded stand, the rounded post and the top finial. The largest part of the square base is approximately 17.75"x17.75" There are threaded rods on the inside that connect the base and post together, the finial sits on top. There are specks of white paint around the newel post. I will let the buyer decide how to remove it. This newel post is meant to be at the bottom of a staircase. The railing is 12' long and approximately 5.5" wide. It is also made of solid mahogany. The bottom of the railing mounts flush onto the newel post. The top ... moreof the railing has a hump back that turns into a corner and mounts to the wall. There are a few places where the edges on the bottom have partially broken off. Gorgeous Primitive Antique Solid Wood Column Table Base Pedestal Shabby White The pickens were slim this weekend as far as auctions and estate sales. So I went to a favorite antique mall that always has an awesome February sale. Picked up lots of antiques and unique items to list! I also continue to list new items from the farm estate auction, with lookouts more new hardware pieces over the next several weeks. I am also going to one of my favorite flea market shows this weekend, so wish me luck! There’s something for everyone! I do not know exactly what this one started out life as- was it an architectural piece. Or a table base or something else- but it will be yours to decide now- it's a drop dead gorgeous piece. Made of solid wood, it has carved out ovals all around in typical column form. Both ends are unfinished- one end having a ... morehole in the center, and the other end has the same hole, as well as a smaller hole at the side of that base. You can see that hole in photo 13, and then again in photos 15& 16- there's a 1" crack that starts at the larger base hole and runs for 1" out pointing right at the side hole! Now, that end of the base has what appears to be very old and very worn green felt on it- I'm not sure why- did the former owner use this as a pedestal and put it on? I don't know, but there's still some left on to do the job for you. The piece measures 20 1/8" tall. It's 5 7/8" diameter at the end in photo 4(the end without the felt) and then 6" diameter at the end in photo 15(with felt) That end is a little different in that it has rounded edges and a carved inset that goes around just under the end- which the other side does not have. The piece weighs a he afty 7 lbs. LETS talk about the PATINA now! I'm saving that for last because it is truly the icing on the cake! It has a very very very worn creamy white patina for its last coat of paint(which seems to have been a while ago) and under that, you can see other colors too- I see tan, light blue

Here is a pair of big old solid poplar columns(not hollow) They are w eathered but in decent conditi on overall. The bottoms were hand cut so they may need planing. Though they do stand easily on their own. These columns are big and heavy, probably about 200 pounds each. They have a very slight taper, about 1" in diameter over 90" of length. These were turned from one tree trunk each, they are not laminated layers. There are c racks and checks on them. And the edge of one of the tops is missing(see pics) Some of the tips of t he radius details have broke ... moreoff. It looks like these were small pieces that were added to complete the curve(see pics) that have since fallen off. There is a little bit of paint on them but not much. These would make a great starting poi nt for a substantial pergola or archway. Or with a bit of repair these could be used on a porch once again. Antique Solid Wood Staircase Newel Post Column Architectural Salvage This antique staircase column came from a public building in PA. It is in solid condition. Has some weight to it(20 lbs) and is 45' high with the square sections measuring 4 3/4' across. The post stands by itself and is level. The floor in my butler's pantry of our 100+ year old house is way off, not the column. There are a couple of places where there is a crack although solid and nothing moving. There is a'slice' out of the top ball as shown. All of these flaws are fixable if desired. Though of different color tones: looks like one was stripped and refinished to a lighter color, the other was left in original stain, a deep mahogany color. Both have a fine grain, and look to me like walnut, though they may be another hardwood. They were likely salvaged from a side-board or similar piece of furniture that dated to circa 1900.
