Pair Antique Hand Forged Iron Strap Hinges for Barn Door w/ Hardware c. 1880's
Pair of Antique Hand Forged Iron Strap Hinges For a Barn Door or Old Door with Primitive Hardware. Offering a pair of beautiful hand forged antique iron strap door hinges with hardware. Circa 1880’s. It appears the straps were forged as a pair because the viewable design(as it would display on a door) has the same pattern. I.e. both having two holes that are set roughly the same distance apart. Plus. The white spots are on both and the heart finials are shaped basically the same with one ticking off to the top and one to the bottom. The top hinge is 15” long and is rolled back and flatten. It has a 5/8” hole. The 15 ¾” bottom strap’s roll back is shorter and more finely forged into the main body of the strap. Perhaps because the craftsman did not have the length of material needed to make the same shaped roll back as the shorter strap. ... moreIt has a ½” hole. As for the hardware. The straight 5” drivable piece fits well under the 15” top strap. In other words. It lines up perfectly so a pin can be inserted though both pieces. All that is missing. To make the whole set complete, is the pin. The hinge pin for the bottom is 5 ½” long by 2 ½” at the widest part. The size is such that it will fit both straps if someone wanted to switch the smaller strap to the bottom for some reason. They have a beautiful aged and untouched patina with good form and design. Both have breathtaking. Well formed hearts/spears ends. They are in excellent“as found” condition. I think the white on the straps is from aged. Dried out bird poop but I’m not positive. I’ll leave the clean up to the buyer as it’s my policy to sell antiques in their original or as found condition. This is a gorgeuos collectible display piece. A beautiful. Very heavy piece of BARN DOOR HARDWARE. Cast iron sliding door roller/pulley mounted on a piece of very old barn door wood. It is over 100 years old, with a date of"April 24, 1906" on the round piece(washer) that you see in pictures# 3, 4& 5. If nothing else, this would look amazing hanging on a wall as a decorative piece. The wood measures 13.25" x 7.75" as you see it in the first picture. Very decorative piece. Here is a functional set of barn door rollers. Still on the original wood. The total length of the board is 41" 19" at the widest part with the broken board. The main board is 6-1/2" X 1" There are lots of nails in it. The metal attached to the boards are 2-1/2" wide. The wheels are about 3-1/2" the covers around them are 5" across. ONE OF THE WHEELS ARE BROKEN! It rolls fine. But it does have a chunk broken off that spans about 2" They are both marked PAT MAY 28-0, I'm assuming that means 1800, especially since the wood measurements are true, but I'm no expert. 3 Foot Antique Oak and Pine Horse Stall Barn Door with Rollers. Track and all Hardware Needed to Install and Hang. This great door was salvaged from an 1890s Missouri homestead and stables. Multiple horse stall doors are available from this salvage so please check the other many door SIZES and STYLES listed in our store. This door comes with its original old hardware. Original rollers and 6ft of original track with track hangers(see pictures) The rollers and track are in perfect operable condition and will function/roll as expected once reassembled. Since this door is 3ft wide, then 6ft of track allows for the appropriate amount of door travel to open and close. These vintage doors have everything you need to hang and immediately begin enjoying. capturing a time long ago. The wood is in great condition and has only the patina and flaws expected ... morefrom a full functioning horse stable door. The door(s) have not been cleaned whatsoever. Therefore barn dust, dirt and cobwebs are seen in the pictures. Will gladly hose down for buyer if requested. The track and hardware show a great patina with only mild surface rust. Someone attempted to begin painting the front side of this door with a pale yellow paint(see pictures) but didn't get very far. The door otherwise has its original, unfinished pine board patina. You will also see that the door front has a light discoloration near the bottom half. but this is only a light coat of dirt that can be easily cleaned with a waterhose. Illinois with a patent date of November 19, 1901. Here we have a pair of antique barn door rollers. They are very old and rusty. And are being sold as is. The bolts are stuck on to the screws and can't be removed due to the rust. Each piece has 2 wheels which have 2.75" diameters, and they can still move but not as well as if they were new. The hinges also can still move but not as smoothly as if they were new. One of the 2 still has a lot of the original white paint on the front, while the other one has chipped off a lot. The whole piece is 9" tall, 7.25" wide from wheel to wheel, and 4.5" wide on the main piece. This is a very cool antique which would be a great addition to any collection. Here is a vintage old barn door with roller hardware. This door measures 36 1/4" x 96 1/4" without rollers and track. It is 101" tall with the rollers and track. It comes complete with 8 ft. of track. It came of a barn in northwest Ohio. This door is ready to hang. The roller hardware was disassembled& cleaned. I then put on several coats of clear coat.
