Antique Brass Ice Box Hinges and Door Latches
Set of brass hinges and door latches from ice box. Includes six hinges measuring 4x4” at widest point. And two each door latches(3 ¼ by 2 ½' base total height with handle 5 ½” and two catches(3 ½ by 1 ¾” base) All in need of a good cleaning but everything works. LOT OF ANTIQUE FURNITURE HARDWARE KNOBS -HINGES - PULLS - LATCHES
This lot consists of a variety of furniture and door hardware. The latches are in good working condition. The large hinges measure 3 1/8" x 3 1/4" and are made of tranished brass. I suspect these hinges may have been used on a ice box? Some of these pieces have rust stains and paint residue.

I have a nice lot of old brass icebox hinges and latches with catches for your consideration. 5 hinges. Two catches and two latches. The handles on the latches are cast brass. There is a left and a right catch and latch. The right latch is a flush catch and the left latch is an offset which looks like a 1/4 inch. They have quite a bit of character I am guessing they came off a side by side double door chest. Nice for reuse on a number of different possiblities for your next project or renovation. Hinges look to have a 3/8 inch offset and all operate smoothly for reuse. These look like they would clean up quite a bit although I did not want to destroy the patina and thought I would let the new owner decide. This is the second lot of mostly Hoosier hinges and latches. I can tell you this lot is from the same bucket as the first lot. I did not seperate them. I actually just pulled stuff out and put them onto two seperate lots. There are other items in with the hoosier items. I am not sure what they went to. This is a lot from a gentleman that used to restore antique furniture. Some is all original, some is reproduction. These are used, and are as found. There could be dings, dirt, tarnish, paint etc on these items. Some maybe broke, or bent. I really don't know too much about these items. I can tell you there is a mixture some maybe Sellers, Hoosier, Boone, or other Hoosier type item. This is lot 1 of two lots of mostly Hoosier hinges. Latches, and handles. Some are Sellers some are Hoosier, some are Boone and I am sure probably some are other companies that made a form of the Hoosier Cabinet. I would say most of this is all Hoosier items, I have seen some other hinges, and I am not sure what they came from. These Hoosier hinges, actually have sold on here between 10.00 to 30.00 some for one item, some for 6 items. Great project for someone who knows Hoosiers to piece it out. The first one looks like some lamp fixture as there's a hole right next to the center where a pull chain may have been, it measures about 3 1/4" across, stands about an inch high and weighs 5 ounces. The other heavy cast iron piece looks like a handle, it's completely round in the center, 3 1/2" across, about 1/4" thick and it weighs just shy of 6 ounces. There's an E 233 on the other side. Laughton. M.D. While researching I found that Sharp& Smith were at the address listed inside from 1883-1899. So this item pre-dates the turn of the 20th century. The handle on one window latch and the two casters are porcelain. There are marks on the these but no cracks. The window latches turn. The hang hinge and other hinges and pieces are shown in the pics. And some of them we do not know their function. The little cast faucet has good threads in the connector but the handle does not turn. We believe it is made of brass. All pieces are offered and the bidder must discern their function as we do not know the names of all of them. 5 pics shown. Vintage Antique Ice Box Refrigerator Door Hinges Latches Handles Nickel Brass
Nice Antique Hinges! I have several other items up for sale so please check out my other auctions. These hinges and latches were removed from an old wooden cooler door left in the basement of a late 1800's building. The hinges were completely covered in paint- now"mostly" removed. The paint appears to have preserved the plating nicely. Since only the door was there. The catches for latches and screws for the hinge ends are not included. Two of the hinges appear to have been filed down at the very back possibly to make them fit somewhere. The hardware is solid brass as is evident by the filed down parts. They appear to be Nickel plated. There is a slight bend and stress crack on one of the hinges(shown) which appears to be a factory flaw. The reason it appears as a factory flaw is shown on the opposite side as what appears to ... morebe a small weld under the nickel plate? The latches need new springs on the inside. Which should be easily acquired from a hardware store. The handles function nicely. And if desired, the springs would be super-easy to install- one screw! I will include the only(broken) spring from the two for comparison. The hinges have a one inch offset. and the straps measure about 4 5/8 inches long. The base of the hinges are about 2 5/8 inches long and about 1 1/8 wide. The latch bases measure 2 3/4 high x 2 1/8 wide. The handles are approximately 4 1/8 long. The latch box is about 3/4" high.
