Description. Vintage ALLITH-PROUTY COMPANY RELIABLE HANGER for the old style barn/shed sliding doors. This is a heavy weight cast iron construction. Patented NOV 19th. 1901 and DEC 8th, 1903. This was classified as No. 2 size. Made in Danville, Ill. The embossed letters of cast information is excellent. Both rollers are perfect and roll freely. No chips on the edges of the rollers as often found. No cracks, breaks, or repairs anywhere. I did not touch these in regards to cleaning or buffing them. This is a pair of antique Barn door track hangers or rollers that measure about 8-3/4" long or tall or so and are about 7-3/4" across the widest place. The wheels measure about 3/8" thick or so. They are both marked but it is very faint. And I had to put my reading glasses on, and have a magnifying glass to read this: Patent or something, 1915, or I think that is what I read. It is very faint. They both are of course are rusty, and both have a little red paint on them. They both turn very freely. These rollers come apart into two pieces, as on eof the pictures will show. I don't really know anything else about them. They would be great for your rustic farm decor or to collect! Please look at the pictures closely so that you can see the condition of these rollers! They have been painted white and may have more than one coat of paint on them. Also have some dirt and signs or corrosion on them. They have an"S" stamped on the back side of them. That may indicate the brand name. The writing on the front side is RELIABLE HANGER 1 PAT'D OCT 29 1901. One of the hangers looks to be a bit twisted or bent sideways a bit. The rollers turn on two of these. Third set wheels don't turn. There is no groove in the rollers. I see there's one bolt in the top of one that holds the roller on. Listed is a pair of Cannon Ball self oiling barn door rollers#1068 made by Starline Inc. Harvard, Ill. These are New Old Stock. They were found in an unopened crate in an old barn. The angled support braces on the track extend down 3 inches. Rollers and track have surface rust. I did attempt to clean them. They are a great old pair of rollers and track is very sturdy. Here for your consideration is this vintage pair of track type barn door hangers. These are new old stock with out the box. They have never been installed, they are in very good condition with some light blemishes to the paint and some light surface rust on the bolts, the bolts are still very useable! The strap hangers are 6' long, 2' wide and the opening for the panel or door is 1 3/4' so these will work on a door that is 1 3/4' thick, these will hang on a single rail track that is up to 1 1/2' wide, there is no track with these you are buying just the two hangers. This looks to be NOS(new old stock) it still has the original black powder coat finish in good condition with some minor chipping. I don't have the bolts for this. This measures 10' from the top edge to the bottom of the horseshoe, the horseshoe part is 5 1/2' wide and the mounting area is 5' from the bottom of the lower track guide to the bottom of the horseshoe, this has the hinged part to allow the door to be flexible and swing outward, this looks like it would fit on a 1' or 1 1/4' single rail track. Up for auction is 2 pair of antique barn door hanger brackets. The first pair are horse shoe shaped with wheels that roll from side to side. One of these wheels has a small piece broken out and one side of the other horse shoe is pitted as shown on both items. I could not find any markings on these. The second pair are Reliable#2, made by the Allith Mfg. Co. with a patent date of 1901& 1903. Both of these are bent as shown. I started to bead blast these hangers but my compressor motor pooped out and didn't get all of them cleaned. All four of them came off the same door so I suppose they were used together somehow. They are old, worn and needs some repair but I'd say most of these of that vintage would be too. All of them will fit in a large flat rate priority box so the shipping will be 17.45. The second from left in photos showing all 4 of them is missing a small portion of metal to the curved tip end of opening where the part that bolts over the top of one's door goes through. This would not bother the operation of your door though. Made of cast metal. Full height of a hanger is 10 1/8 TH inches. Where one's wood from a door fit in and the hanger bolts through is 1 1/2" in depth and 3 7/8 Th's. Square hole openings on the head of a bolt side and round on the end where a nut goes onto the bolt. Please feel free to ask questions.
