Two Antique Side Latches/W Catches European Secretaire Restoration Hardware
I have two side latches. With catches that I took off of a European Secretaire, circa 1790-1810. They are brass and in good working shape. These are as removed, not cleaned or altered in any way. Measurements of latches are 2 3/8 inches long, 1 3/8 inches wide by 3/8 inch thick. The catches measure 1 5/16 inches long, 3/8 inch wide and 1/2 inch thick, including nibs. There is some corrosion on the back that doesn't affect operation in any way. These items are perfect for restoration of period furniture. I have the other hardware from the Secretaire listed in my other auctions. Items sold as is. What you see in the pictures is what you are bidding on. I have two Desk Latches that I took off of a n Antique Secretaire. Also included are the two original catches that were on the drop desk front. The Latches operate by push button and locked up securely on the original desk. These can be used for restoration of period pieces or can be used in other applications as well. I haven't cleaned them. They are as removed from the desk. As you can see in the pictures. There is some rust on the surface of the spring plates and some corrosion on the brass part. The rust is just surface rust and the spring plates are still strong. The green corrosion is also just on the surface. I can see no pitting from the c orr osion. I have an unusual pressed or stamped. Nickel plated steel lot of 8 old door latches for your consideration. These could be in nice reusable condition with a little cleaning and lube. All the springs seem to be intact and work. A little sticky on a couple. I am uncertain of there age although my guess would have been from a wooden built in cabinet or cupboard door from the late 20's early 30's. They have a deco pattern on handles. Nicely, these appear to have had a flush strikeplate application so you will be able to find something that would work more easily. Might be a nice addition for a reworked piece of furniture or cabinet/cupboard door. measure 1 7/16 inches from ctr to ctr of mounting screw holes. I have a nice lot of old brass icebox hinges and latches with catches for your consideration. 5 hinges. Two catches and two latches. The handles on the latches are cast brass. There is a left and a right catch and latch. The right latch is a flush catch and the left latch is an offset which looks like a 1/4 inch. They have quite a bit of character I am guessing they came off a side by side double door chest. Nice for reuse on a number of different possiblities for your next project or renovation. Hinges look to have a 3/8 inch offset and all operate smoothly for reuse. These look like they would clean up quite a bit although I did not want to destroy the patina and thought I would let the new owner decide. Up for auction is this antique set of door thumb latches and lock. Now. This is old.dating to the 1870's.it needs work.lubrication for one thing. Much of the mechanism is rusted, however, it appears with a little elbow grease and today's inventions, seller believes this can once again be utilized. It truly depicts the era of which it was designed and created. The offset handle on one side is still attached to the boards of which it was attached. The screws are in the back.seller made a little attempt to free, however, decided to leave that to the buyer. This is truly a very unique find.very old.well worth its work to reap the rewards! The latch attached to the wood measurses 10" L x 2" W, The same for the other. The lock measures 4 1/2 x 1 x 2 1/2. As always, this seller pays US postage fees.

2 very similar wheat handle Norfolk thumb latches with parts. The latches are 7 1/2" and 8" long. The handles have a bold wheat motif center section- The only difference in the handles is that one is mounted upside down from the other one- The latch bars are period and are 6" long The thumb piece is period on one latch and is 2 3/8" long. The thumb piece on the other one is a replacement and is 4" long. The keepers and staples are period-possible earlier than the latches. The keepers and staples all have back plates as does the latch bar. Ask questions if interested. Watch for my other early iron items.

One original set of bottom case lid latches and the original correct screws for a Model A Green Oak Standard and one original bedplate frame to bottom case rear hinge and correct orginal(re-blued) screws for the same machine. These may fit other Standard models. But I can't confirm that. Pretty sure they won't work with a Home case. These are original and used and old and somewhat rusty for your clean up and use. Pair of Old reproduction wrought iron wonderful large Thumb latches hardware
A number of months ago-I purchased several matched pairs of old reproduction thumb latches. I was told these latches were found in a barn of an estate that was being sold. No two of the pairs was the same shape. I have sold a number of the pairs-but have a few pairs left. This pair is without exception the very best and decorative pair that I was able to get. The latches are 15 1/2"16 1/2" long. All of the parts are reproduction-but were not purchased with the latches. The latch bars are 7" long. The thumb pieces are 5" long. The keepers are legged ones as opposed to simple drive in ones.
