Antique Tile; Depicts Oriental Chinese Scene of Sand-pans type boats with homes on the hill in the background and decorative scrolling at the corners. Very Old- Marked Mintons- China Works- Stoke on Trent Has roughness. Chips, chipping and nudges on the corners and edges. Has scratches on the surface and loss of color. Has a firing crack and/or cracks on the bottom middle and on the right in the middle. In the bottom right corner you will see a dark area- that is just dirt. Trent Trenton fireplace tiles 10 pcs. 6" x 6" Vintage
Ten Trent tiles that came from an old Victorian fireplace surround in Iowa. Each of the tiles measure 6" x 6" Two have large chips on the front. Two others have very small chips on the front. They have not been cleaned but any char should wipe off with windex and a cloth. A few of them have chips on the back. But those can be leveled with grout. There are 10 tiles all together. Description The sale is for 36 of these antique tiles and are from the late 1800's. They are 4.25" square and have a raised design. They are in very good condition with some very small abrasions to the high points(on some) and an pleasing all over crazing that almost all antique tiles have. I very recently sold this identical design with less bold colors(light green replacing the blue) This was the buyer's comment: Great item. Accurately described, combined/free shipping, great seller! The last picture show the different designs you can create with them. You can extend their surface coverage by using triangular tiles at the 4 corners to create 6 inch squares as well. Stoke Upon Trent: The partnership between Colin Minton Campbell and Michael Daintry Hollins ended in 1868. It produced a split in the famous Minton company. With Campbell in charge of china production at Minton's China Works, and Hollins producing tiles of various types at Minton, Hollins& Co. TRENT VICTORIAN MAJOLICA GLAZE `STYLIZED ACANTHUS` HIGH RELIEF MOULDED TILE
This unusual tile was made by the Trent tile factory. It is moulded in high relief with a central boss surrounded by acanthus leaves. The tile is coloured with rich majolica glaze in shades of brown. The tile is 6 inches square and in good condition. The back has 6 ribs. T in a star and TRENT.
