Six (6) Vintage HR Johnson Round Tiles Trivets England - 3.5" - Fair/Good H & R
Please read through for condition issues– they aren’t perfect. Six(6) Vintage H&R Johnson Round Tile Trivets. The each measure approx. 3 ½” in diameter. There are three(3) of each style. The base color is white. And they are decorated orange and green. They are all marked. CONDITION: They appear to have been previously mounted. There is either an adhesive or varnish/shellac residue on the back of each piece which has browned(or started off brown) Green border tiles: o 1) has a small chip on the bottom edge which is slightly visible from a side view. It also has a very small flea bite nick on the bottom edge which is hardly visible(see pics) o 2) has a chip which is visible from a side view. I also felt one small flea bite nick(see pics) from this flea bite there is a hairline crack which has caused some chip loss to the painted area ... moreon the top(see pic) If this were a single tile I wouldn’t list it. But since it is a part of matched set, you may want it regardless. When looking at the main picture. It’s in the bottom left tile(about 5 o’clock) o 3) no found chips. Nicks or flea bites. Orange border tiles: o 1) has a small chip which is slightly visible from the side. I also found two flea bite nicks(see pic) o 2& 3) no found chips. Nicks or flea bites. I have made no attempts to chemically remove the residue on the back. They were only hand washed in warm. Sudsy water and not soaked. I did not want to jeopardize their integrity. 5 Antique English Art Nouveau Ceramic Tiles These come from an estate we are honored to be liquidating Note: The pictures make the tiles look a bit yellowed in the lower right corners of the images. That is a function of the indoor lighting. They actual tiles are not yellowed. This lot consists of five Art Nouveau period tiles made in England. They are checkered. With lovely stylized flowers. They measure 6X6 inches. While the overall condition is pretty nice for antique tiles. They do have a few issues worth noting. There are scuffs and scratches scattered about, most noticeable in the plain dark green areas. They have the iridescent sheen that is acquired over time due to cleaning, but that is typical of antique tiles. There are a few small nick around the edges, the worst being on the tile pictured in the upper left. That tile also has ... moresome dark staining on the back. A couple have as-mad imperfections, the most notable being a spot where the glaze did not stick on a small raised bump in the center of the dark green area. Finally, they all have crazing. The last two pictures show the surfaces in bright raking light, to show the minute flaws on the surface. Those flaws are not that obvious to the naked eye under normal lighting situations. Flaws notwithstanding. The design corners are all quite nice. I think these would be great to cut out and use for accent pieces. A beautiful matched pair of vintage used Art Nouveau architectural tiles. Each measuring 5 inches square, from an estate sale. A lovely ornate pattern with birds- either a pelican or stork- in light blue, dark blue, gray, brown, pink and camel against a taupe background. The tiles are in excellent condition with one small chip on the underside of one tile, and no other damage, and are unsigned. Made of pale red clay. 9 VINTAGE TILES, PORTUGAL PARROT, 5 7/8" X 5 7/8", C. GOMIL
These 9 tiles were bought in Portugal about 20 years ago by a friend of mine. See photos for condition. No noticeable chips or cracks except for the upper left tile which has 2 long thin cracks. They did not show up in the photo very well(2nd photo) There are pieces of cardboard stuck on the back. Each tile is 5 7/8" x 5 7/8" x 3/16" On the back is MADE IN PORTUGAL. 5 sets of 4x4 vintage ceramic tile pattern sets. A bit dusty but excellent condition. Some small chips/scratches as expected for vintage tiles. Not sure of the manufacturer. Antique English Art Nouveau Mackintosh Rose tile #1057 5 colours! Malkin
A stunning original(antique) Art Nouveau press-moulded majolica tile measuring 6" x 6" It features a beautiful Mackintosh rose in a cool lavender colour with hints of teal blue around the edges and a very detailed centre in a rich amber-orange. The groups of spear-like soft apple green leaves are set against an unusually coloured triple cartouche(somewhere between caramel and khaki) The background is bottle green and has some iridescence. Great overall condition. A graze to the raised pattern outline in the flower centre. A little light surface scratching and the merest hint of staining to the attractive background crackle crazing. There are some vintage nibbles at the extreme edges, due to fitting into furniture or a fireplace at the time of manufacture. Please see the detailed scans.
