Unique man reading a paper in a long coat and slippers-smoking a long pipe on the floor. Beautiful coloring and crazing from age. Some chips to the back and edges. This is an excellent work and reveals for instance that major ports for these tiles exportations was Montevideo(Uruguay capitol) and Argel(Algeria) These wonderful tiles( azulejos carreaux) are one of most exquisite item you can acquire for your home decor. Offered for your bidding consideration is a handsome antique tile made by Cambridge. It features 3 French fleur-de-lis reliefs colored in a light sage green. I recently discovered this tile and others while digging for antique bottles under a porch in Stockton. CA. The home was built in 1909 and was slated for demolition. I believe I had dug up a trash pit once used by the original builders just before completion of the home where they had discarded left over materials. Some of the glazing is worn on part of the fleur-de-lis on the far left. See below for more details. 3 Salt Glazed Antique Brick Pavers
Up for your consideration is a lot of three antique brick pavers. Two are of the Nelsonville Block variety and the other is a Hallwood Block Pat. These bricks came out of a new ally construction in the Old Italian Village in Columbus Ohio. Bricks are in overall decent condition with some chipping around edges and little specs of cement and asphalt spotting. All three are visually appealing and appear to be salt glazed. Great original condition with the usual background crackle-crazing due to age which has acquired sootiness from the fireplace that it came from(can be bleached clean easily by soaking in a dilute solution of household bleach in water) The vertical craze lime at extreme bottom centre continues through to the rear of the tile as an unopened hairline crack. This is a beautiful. Fun and fabulous antique tile measuring 5.3/8 inches square. I live in a victorian townhouse in the art museum area of Philadelphia. When we were insulating the walls on either side of our fireplace, we found this behind the wall many years ago. It is a funny scene of two drunken men in a donkey accident. The colors are beautiful and vivid! There is only a very very tiny bit of crazing in the bottom left which is even difficult to see. The edges are a bit nicked as you can see in the photos. Please look at the photos. I try to show everything in the photos. It is a great antique tile! Thanks for looking at my homes original tile. Antique English Art Nouveau 3 tile panel #1075-1077 Sky blue tulips
A run of three original(antique) Art Nouveau press-moulded majolica tiles. Each measuring 6" x 6" Probably part of a fireplace panel originally consisting of 5 tiles, but I've only ever had three. The only real sign that the original design is truncated is the small amount of sky-blue glaze right at the base of the second tile. Otherwise, the pattern of caramel-coloured leaves with their dimpled light apple-green background continues rather convincingly! The three bright sky-blue tulips are the stars of this panel, set off beautifully against the cream background.Great original condition with just some edge nibbles to tiles 1& 2, a larger top right corner chip to tile 3, 4 little surface chips each to tiles 2& 3. No cracks or other problems. There is faint crackle-crazing due to age. Please see the detailed images(taken ... morewith a camera and not my usual high-resolution direct scans because the tiles are currently mounted onto thin hardboard with PVA glue. This is how I mount my panels before I frame them, to prevent loose tiles from slipping out and falling. The PVA is a non-permanent fix and will easily remove from the tiles. I can do this before posting if the winning bidder would like me to. In the meantime, it isn't possible to photograph the tile backs! This tile panel is from my own collection. Easily postable. The finished parcel will qualify for the Royal Mail's'up to 2kg' rates and a'small parcel' rather than a'medium parcel' if the tiles are removed from the hardboard and packed as a cube(as per the quotes below, saving around £2.50 in postage) The tiles will be properly bubblewrapped, padded and strongly boxed. Set of 3 Godwin Queen Victoria Royal Commemorative Tiles Victorian Antique 19thC This is a lovely set of three 19th century tiles. These tiles are royal commemorative- celebrating Queen Victoria's reign in the year 1897- her diamond jubilee. Each tile has a relief moulded image of the Queen surrounded by symbolic lions. Harps and laurel wreath. And these examples are in three different colourways. The pieces are in fair to good condition for their ages. However the red tile has some surface rubbing on the edge of the laurel wreath and crown, and all have some small and signs of age and wear and discolouration to the back. Each tile measures 15.5cm by 15.5cm. They all have the impressed Godwin marks. I have included many photographs to give you a detailed impression of the pieces quality and condition- these act as part of the description ... moreso please look carefully at them. It is up to you. A beautiful original- NOT a modern reproduction- English art nouveau tile. There is a logo on the back which I have never seen before of a stag lying down with laurel leaves and the word England. It is a lovely 3 poppy design in pale pink and green on a cream background. There is crazing to the surface of the glaze and a bit of discoloration to the upper left hand edge but no cracks or chips. 35 Brown. Tan, Green over white Unbroken and a few chipped pieces. salvaged from a turn of the century building. original period pieces of ceramic tiles from around the fireplace. they have natural age crazing and very few spots of tiny chips or imperfections. beautiful vintage tile. These were painted black over time and I removed 99.9% of the paint. there may be a speck here and there where the black soaked in. this is a pretty clean lot. this color has been very popular and these are the last I have at this time. inv.r1u3sd
