Antique 3 Beautiful Fr. Courting Scenes on Tile w/Brass Frames; Ea 1900's
These are very beautiful hand painted tile copies of Antionne Watteau(1684-1721) romantic courting scenes. The framed tiles are extremely well made. As they have survived the test of time quite wonderfully. These scenes all bear the artists signature on the bottom right hand side(see photo 5) There is a set of 3 plaques 2 oval, and 1 round; each with lovely bow shaped brass frames. They are all completely brass covered in the back, and have an attached ring for hanging. The 3 pieces present in excellent condition with no flaws or defects. There is no paint loss or any other visual marring. These are quite exceptional romantic scenes for which Watteau was most well known for. In total they weigh 2 and a 1/4 pounds. The ovals measure 4 in by 5 and 6/8 in, and the round plaque is 5 and 1/2 in wide. Pieces such as these are made to admire and ... moreenjoy. We have recently acquired numerous pieces of vintage Delftware. It was our understanding that these items were from a store in Niagara Falls that closed down in the 70's. Which makes sense, because many of the items were wrapped in newspapers from the area and time mentioned. However, we also found many, many items that were wrapped in the La Presse(Montreal, Quebec, Canada) from the 60's. Additional items were wrapped in a Dutch newspaper from the 60's also. So it is a bit of a conundrum as to when and/or where these actually originate from. This Marvelous Earthenware/ Ceramic Tea Tile measures about 6" across the face. Hand Painted. Made in Holland. Which makes sense, because many of the items were wrapped in newspapers from the area and time mentioned. However, we also found many, many items that were wrapped in the La Presse(Montreal, Quebec, Canada) from the 60's. Additional items were wrapped in a Dutch newspaper from the 60's also. This is a New Mexico souvenir from a 1950's road trip on Route 66. The ceramic tile trivet is 6"square. There are scenes of native American tribes in New Mexico on the brightly colored front. The back of the tile is covered with green felt. CONDITION: This tile was used in the kitchen and the sides show signs of wear. The green felt has worn down and worn away totally from two corners(SEE PHOTO) It does not look new but the bright colors and the scenes of 50 years ago make it an interesting piece. Vintage Mexican terra cotta tile with country scenes. On one there are two men on a boat on a river. On the boat it says Felicidades. The other has a farmer with his basket on his back and his walking stick in his hand. It has a village in the back ground. They have different colors of glazes on each tile. The glaze was painted on. They come from a estate sale. They also have hangers on each one. They are 5 1/2 inches square. They are 3/8 inches thick. Nice to collect and display.

Country scene with the family gathering around for a Thanksgiving Feast a n d a Farmer in his fields. The tiles are 8 inches by 8 inches and with the frame measure approximately 9 1/2 inches by 9 1/2 inches. The tile is perfect. No chips. Cracks, scratches, etc. The frame is original and in very good condition. The stands are not included in this auction. Piece has a hook in back for hanging.
