The cherubs have wonderful detailed faces& hair. The tiles have a marvelous translucent tobacco brown glaze. The tiles are marked on the back"SHERWINS. PAT. LOCKBACK, ENGLAND. Sherwin and Cotton was established in 1877 in Hanley. Stafforshire, England and was a prolific manufacturer of all forms of tiles for walls and floors. They were makers of some of the earliest of George Cartlidge's photographic tiles and also had a range of Niello tiles which were transfer printed and coloured using translucent glazes. Another speciality was barbotine tiles, tiles made using raised painted slip decoration. The company folded in 1911. The tiles are saquare in shape and each measure approx. 6" by 6" by 3/8" These items are estate pieces and in excellent condition for their age. The tiles are original. There are no cracks or repairs. We have not polished/cleaned the pieces, we will leave this up to the new owner. Pair of antique Pilkington art nouveau majolica tiles
Lovely and rare pair of antique art nouveau tiles from Pilkington's with a fineness of line and moulding characteristic of their nouveau designs. This design is used extensively at the Royal Victoria Baths in Manchester. Though in a different colourway. This pair is in pale green and cream. The vertical bars at the edges are part of the design, forming the stems of further flowers when wall-mounted in panels. Size: 6" square each tile. Condition: very good surface to the glaze but there are some corner chips to both tiles. The left-hand tile has a chip on the flower and about 1.5mm shaved off a small section at the same point- please see detail photo. The backs are quite clean and bear the usual embossed'P' mark for Pilkington's and a registered number for c.1901. Please email with any questions.

The stand measures 14.5 x 8.5 inches approx and stands on four little turned feet. The tiles are crazed and have some surface wear as you would expect from antique tiles but no major damage as far as I can see. The wooden stand has seen wear and tear with scratches and wear to the varnish but it essentially sound and needs a good clean up. Very nice little stand- please see my other items. Happy to combine postage where possible.

8493 Pair Victorian Tiles Description A pair of late 19th century Victorian era tiles. They have waffle style backs. But no makers marks in this case. The fronts are printed and polychrome coloured with a stylised floral design typical of the 1880's period. The tiles are of quite thick section. So are probably from a fire surround or similar. They have old collectors series labels to the reverse. Condition Damages to the reverse and to the reverse edges probably caused during removal. The faces have aged crazing which has darkened. One tile has some surface wear and the colours are a little weaker than on the other. Old collectors label to reverse. Here is a pair of pink towel bar brackets that were removed from a 1950's-era bathroom. These are meant to be installed over the field tile(semi-flush) and not flush with it. One of the brackets has a chunk that has been epoxied back on(see pics) and the other has grout in the bar opening. There are some flea bites along the edges but they should all be covered when grouted. Note: the keys(anchor) were broken off during removal but have been epoxied back in place to aid in installation. Also. There is no bar included since it was simply painted wood; this way you can make it any size you want. Please see all photos for condition. Condition is excellent other than that wrought iron bases could use some new paint there's no corrosion but the paint is gone and there is light surface rust. Local pick ups welcomed!

A pair of c1900 Spanish cuenca tiles decorated with peacocks. Mounted/set on a wooden board with a simple frame border. May well be marked, but chose not to risk removing the tiles from their mount. Each tile is 10 3/4" x 5 3/8" overall framed dimensions are 11 1/2" square x 1 1/4"h with tiles recessed 1/4" below the top edge of the frame. The thickness of the tiles is a guess, but assuming the mount board is 1/4" or 1/2" thick, the tiles should be around 3/4" or 1/2" not counting the thickness of the mortar. Weighs 4 1/2 lbs. The sale is for a gorgeous pair of framed antique portrait tiles with a highly raised design. They are each 6" square. Framed they are 11" square. I believe they were made by the Trent Tile Works of Trenton NJ but they are professionally framed and I've not removed the backs to check further. They are glazed green in color with typical crazing. They are in very good condition but there are minor surface abrasions. And the tile with young girl has a chipped edge along lower right side as shown. Beautifully displayed against rich black velvet with bright gilt frames. Lovely pair!

I am offering this pair of beautiful multi-colored 6" X 6" X 1/2" thick Hamilton Tile Works majolica glazed tiles that was produced in the late 1890's/early 1900's. I have for sale. A large collection of various antique tiles. I'll be listing them. In the order that they come to hand, over the coming weeks. I generally do my listings starting and ending on Sundays. Just a few in each lot. To stay within Post Office's"Small packet" limits, to keep postal costs down. This will also make it easier to wrap them safely for transit. I'll let the pictures do the description. Mostly, but will add any info that isn't obvious. An unusually bright day yesterday. Which has influenced the photos- some tiles may be brighter in photos, than they will look in the home, and colours may differ from the photos, in a couple of cases. Incidentally.
