Antique Vintage Mosaic Tile Company Blue Ceramic Wall Heater 1920's
This electric wall heater was removed from a home that was built in the 1920's. I'm not sure if it was working when removed. Since the power was already cut to the house. It appears that th e small filaments are broken that run through the ceramic. So I'm thinking that it would need to be repaired to actually be used a s a hea ter again. However. I have seen folks take out the heat ing element and make a recessed magazine holder out of them. There is a metal grate that fits into the openings o f these units. And it is missing on this one. The cover is made of 2 large tiles that fit tog ether. And they are in great shape with no cracks and just a few tiny chips near one of the mounting holes. There is just some discoloration from where the wire grate sat. And there is also some color variation in the glaze. These'MTC' pieces ... moreof that time had a bit of variation in the color which makes for a hand-glazed look. The f inish is matte. The chrome around the control knob is rusty. But the knob itself is in great shape with no chips or cracks. Dimensions are: co mplete cover size is 18"L X 15 1/4" W-housin g front is 17"L X 14 1/4"W-housing depth is 3" Thanks for looking. Vintage 24kt SOLID GOLD Mosaic Italian Tiles Elle Decor 24k yellow
Vintage 24kt Solid Gold Mosaic tiles discovered in Hawaii. Lovely Mosaic Tiles confirmed tested 24KT Solid Gold on one side. Fused to crystal on the other side, hand cut into aprox 3/4" squares. The old boxes say"Made in Italy" A local Maui tile contractor remembers installing them. He states that they are vintage circa 1991. Overstock from the construction of the Grand Wailea Hotel in Maui. A Japanese business man spent over 900 million to build the most incredible hotel on Maui. They were used to decorate the main swimming pool. They were hand set in a Greek Key pattern. Elle Decor Magazine recently featured a custom home in Italy in which these gold tiles were photographed as one of the highlights. Due to the high cost of 24kt gold and the cost to hand cut. They are no longer manufactured. I have at least 170 Linear Feet ... moreof these 24kt solid gold tiles available for that unique and upscale installation. Estimated to cost is over 20.00 per tile if available for purchase in todays market. We are selling them per tile. The way they were set at the Grand Wailea is as follows: Each tile was set with the 24k gold side down in morter. They left a small space between each one to allow for the variance in thickness. Which is a slight + or- from the average thickness of 3/16" The crystal side up added more luminesence to the installtion. In my opinion, I think that they could be set without grout, as the morter could allow to make up the small differences in the tile thickness. It is however alot easier to set with a tiny grout line perhaps as small as 1/16" Also. I think they could be set with the gold side up as the gold has been fused to the crystal, But. In my opinion, they look better with the gold side down.
