It forms part of the Rustic scenes collection designed by William Wise and has a date of around 1885. It is decorated in a blue and white glaze and features a young lady who is in the countryside and is depicted intently inspecting a small flower. Condition Report The tile is in very good condition for it's v intage with no large chips or cracks. It does show some signs of age and usage with some small nibbles and chips to the edges but these are minimal and the tile does show very well and would be very usable. Antique Victorian English Blue & White Floral Printed Tulip Tile Lea & Boulton
Up for auction is a pretty Victorian floral printed tile by Lea& Boulton. This tile is printed with a lovely design featuring tulips and associated foliage surrounded by a scrolled border decorated with part leaves& other designs. The pattern on the tile is printed in a steel blue colour(greyish blue) On an off-white background. The surface of the tile has a nice glossy finish. The tile measures 6 inches square. This tile is in good condition. The four corners have all been neatly shaped probably to fit the tile into its original setting. This has been done professionally probably at the time of manufacture and in any event prior to the tile being decorated. As the glaze continues over the shaped edges. The edges and corners are generally in nice condition. There is a very small shallow chip to the bottom left corner. Very tiny& ... moreshallow chip/ nic to bottom edge near left corner. Tiny bits of grazing to top edge near left corner and left edge about an inch up from bottom corner- but all extremely minimal and restricted to the very outer edges. There is a little blurring/ smudging to the print affecting a tiny area in the top left corner area. And a few specks of blue and other colours in the white areas, as well as a few very tiny indents and raised areas to the surface- all manufacturing flaws common with tiles from this period. The tile has overall crazing which is pale in colour& a little scratching to the surface commensurate with age and use. Please enlarge photos to see tile in more detail. Interesting Antique Victorian Aesthetic Movement Brown & White Floral Print Tile
Up for auction is an attractive Victorian Aesthetic Movement floral printed brown& white tile. This tile is interesting in that it is an identified Mintons design. However it bears the maker's mark for Lea& Boulton. It is possible that both firm's produced the same design or that Mintons have used blank Lea& Boulton tiles to print their design on. This tile is printed with a lovely design in dark brown depicting a central diamond decorated with an urn filled with swirling flowers and foliage. The remaining tile surface is filled with swirls of flowers and stems against a speckled background surrounded by a simple white border and an external brown border. Original Black & White Victorian Floor Tiles from William Booth 's House -
I am selling 500 original black& white floor tiles from William Booth's House(founder of the Salvation Army) Park Farm in Hadleigh Essex. There are approximately 500 tiles measuring 53mm x 53mm x 13mm. The tiles are of normal condition for their age and we have selected the best 500- They have been given a light wash as shown in the photograph above. I had hoped to use these in my own period house but unfortunately do not have enough tiles for the size of the project so it is with great reluctance that I am having to offer them for sale. Excerpt from The Hadleigh& Thundersley Community Archive'On the 25th May 1891 William Booth purchased Castle Farm(renamed Home Farm) Park Farm, Sayer’s Farm and Templewood Farm and 19th October 1891 Belton Hill Farm. This represented around 900 acres. Further purchases in 1892 and 1893 took ... morehim to about 3,200 acres of which 1,000 acres were water and foreshore. Excerpt from Essex Coastline'Then and Now. William Booth was the first General of the Salvation Army. And with a growing band of supporters, he decided in 1890 to purchase a large plot of land near Hadleigh. He bought most of the open ground between Leigh on Sea and Benfleet including the buildings of Park Farm and Sayers Farm. Near the ruins of Hadleigh Castle, William Booth opened the Home Farm Colony for'criminals, the pauper, the reckless and helpless. The aim of the enterprise was to train people in various practical skills, usually before sending them out to occupy British Colonies overseas. ANTIQUE SET VICTORIAN AESTHETIC MOVEMENT ORIENTAL BLUE & WHITE FLOWER TILES 1890
You are invited to bid on this set of four antique Victorian ceramic tiles dating to approx. c1890's. These lovely Aesthetic Movement tiles have been decorated with stylised oriental flowers on leafy stems with a pattern band border. They bear no makers marks and each tile measures 6" square. Generally these tiles are in good antique condition. There is slight discolouration to one tile with two small old chips. A couple of small chips on the edge of another tile, rubbing on the edges and general age related crazing. A lovely set of Aesthetic Movement ceramic tiles. 12 Blue& White Victorian/Aesthetic Sunflower Design Transfer Printed Tiles This set of 12 tiles probably came from a fireplace or washstand and would probably be ideal for that purpose again or anywhere that some decorative tiles would look good. Although they are blue and white they do look a bit on the gray side in certain lights. There are no markings to the underside and I have not been able to find similar pattern so I do not know the maker. Condition: These are old used tiles. 3 of which have been untidily trimmed down one edge(obviously made to fit in the original place of rest) The colour does vary from tile to tile and they are mostly crazed. Some have marks and one of the trimmed tiles has brown marks and staining of the crazing. There are small nibbles on the edge of some of these tiles and other manufacturing flaws and blemishes ... moreincluding areas of missing glaze. Please see photos below and if you need more, please let me know. Size: Complete tiles 15.4cm x 15.4cm. Trimmed tiles are about 15cm wide. Depth 1cm. Combined weight of tiles unpacked is 4kg Packed weight may exceed 5kg so I have quoted postage at the higher rate of £8 although if the eventual packed weight is under 5kg I will refund via paypal the £2 postage difference. This is a lovely Victorian tile. It has a pattern of daisies with scrolling acanthus leaves. It is printed in shades of mauve on a white ground. The tile is 6 inches square and is in good condition. There is no makers mark. The back has 7x7 embossed squares with 3x3 central blank. There is England embossed across the back with 3 in one corner square and IT in the opposite corner.

Victorian aesthetic Green and white tile H R T Wheat sheaf Beaulah Bonhams
This is an interesting 6 inch Victorian aesthetic tile. It contains a wheat sheaf design. The tile is marked H R T Co England and then appears to have a small 3R mark and a 51 marked in the corner. It is in unused condition but has two chips to the bottom corners. This tile comes from the G K BEAULAH tiles sale at Bonhams on 25th January 1995. It has the original sticker for the sale on the front for lot no 212. On the rear. It has the Beaulah catalogue number: 1334. There is also a red sticker on the edge with a number 225. Ken Beaulah was author of Church Tiles of the C19th and a founder member of the Tiles and Architectural Ceramic Society. He began collecting whilst still at school in York. His collection of tiles was all meticulously accessioned. Photographed and documented in a two volume personal catalogue. He is an important figure ... morein the study of architectural tiles. This is an unusual Victorian tile made by Minton Hollins. Stoke on Trent. The central circle has a maritime scene of a dismasted sailing ship in a heavy sea. This is printed in black on a cream ground. The surround is printed in blue and white and has a basketweave effect surrounded by a rope. The tile is 6 inches square and in good condition. There is some very slight roughnes on the odd edge. The back of the tile is shown in picture#2.

Size: The tiles are 6" x 6" in size and have a depth of 9mm approx Condition: No cracks to the tiles. One tile has a corner missing.
