Location: Praha 1, Czech Republic RARE Antique J& M.P Bells Glasgow Pottery'Marble' Pattern Chamber Pot– Rare Pattern. Description For auction is a beautiful and very rare ... moreJ& M. P. Bells Glasgow pottery'marble' pattern chamber pot. This beautiful chamber pot measures approx. 22cm in diameter. Approx 14.5cm in height and approx.25cm in length from handle to the lip of the chamber pot. The chamber pot is decorated in a grey marble pattern which seem to have been done before glazing and firing. The chamber pot is heavy and solid. There is a small chip at the base of the chamber pot, this is very old chip as it has aged and discoloured. There are some light patches of crazing over the pot, this can be seen on the underside. The J& M.P. Bells pottery in Glasgow suffered from a major fire and as such may moulds. Templates and other equipment was totally destroyed. Sometime ago researchers dug through the factory remains to try and find what remains they could. This means that may of Bells patterns, styles and pottery was destroyed and lost. After extensive research regarding this'marble' pattern. I have found only one reference towards it. This was in Henry H. Kelly's definitive book'The Glasgow pottery of John and Matthew Perston Bell. This chamber pot was looked at by a Glasgow pottery expert who had never come across this pattern from the Bells factory before. This was backed up by an academic and historian at an Edinburgh museum. They both advised that the only reference to this pattern could be made through Henry H. Kelly's book and that this pattern is a true rarity. Due to my location it could be more than possible that this pattern was a'New' technique or idea that was only made on a few pieces that then went home with employees rather than for sale to the public. This theory was also backed up by expert opinion. This is a beautiful piece of pottery heavy and solid. The grey and white colours are surprisingly modern and would not look out of place in any bathroom I was lucky enough to come

Reclaimed early 20th C Vintage 6" Dutch Blue& White pattern tiles. Delft style These tiles were reclaimed from a Dutch building in the early 1960's. They are printed. Blue and white pattern, off white background, measure 150mm square and are 9mm thick(6" x 3/8" The backs are machine marked and are stamped with the capital' H' This probably means they are no older than circa 1890/1900. All are complete i.e no corners missing etc. There are small amounts of grout to some of the edges which depending on future use will need to cleaned and some very small chips to some of the edges. I do have a few more of these tiles if needed. These are the real deal late 19th early 20th century subway tile mud caps with a heaviness and thickness you do not find in today's tiles. The sale is for 1 of these tiles. More are shown in the picture. They are in very good condition with a fine allover crazing. They are mostly Trent. I will also have 6 x 1.5" ones available in quantity as well. Antique Mintons England Rare Mosaic Pattern Art Pottery Tile 6" x 6" x 1/2" tile. Late 19th or early 20th century item. Beautiful and rarely seen multi-color floral mosaic pattern. Mintons stamp on the reverse(see photo) In very good condition with wear commensurate with age and setting. A couple of very small rough spots/small flakes on the edge(see photos) but over-all a great piece. An excellent tile to add to any collection. Antique Vintage 'Trent' 6 X 6 White Tiles Early 1900's Lot of (7) Pcs.
Please note: each tile is actually 5 15/16" square and 7/16" thick. Here are some'Trent' tiles that were found in with a large lot of used tile. Based on the maker and design. These likely dated from the late 1800's-early 1900's. They all show surface scuffs. Crazed glazing and small flea bites on their edges here and there. These are used. Old tiles so they are far from perfect; but if you want patina then look no further! All grout has been removed as well as most of the original mortar. So these are pretty much ready to install. Lot of 22pcs Antique art tiles made by the Robertson Tile Co of Morrisville. Pa. 1" x 6" x 1/2" thick, plus a domed face. These date to the late 1800's-early 1900's. Marked on the backs. Neo-classical overlapping acanthus motif. They are in excellent condition with very few chips. There is some discoloration to many. But not terrible. Lot of 34 pcs( 3 pcs were missed when I took photos. But they are in excellent condition) Antique art tiles made by the Trent Tile Co of Trenton. NJ. 1-1/16" x 6" x 1/2" thick, plus a domed face. Note that antique tiles vary slightly in thickness. In this case, some are slightly longer than others. This does not affect the repeating pattern. These date to the late 1800's-early 1900's. Marked Trent on the backs. Neo-classical medallions and acanthus motif. They are in excellent condition with very few chips. As for color. These are a very white-white. I have a creamy white tile(another group in another auction) up against them in the last photo for comparison. Great for an installation. Restoration or art project.
