Up for consideration is an old wall tile(I do not know when this was made) Beautiful vibrant colors throughout. Beautiful bell-like flowers on a mug. The mug holding another huge orange and yellow flower. This has an old black velvet-like board applied to the back with a hanger for hanging(the black backing is a little separated at the bottom) It may be signed but I did not want to ruin the backing to find out. Could be a hidden treasure! this measures approx 12 inches tall x 12 inches wide& 1/2" thick with the backing. There is some crazing and the colors are beautiful. in a couple very small spots, tubelines(raised lines) are nicked. Vintage Tile by Ann Wynn-Reeves 1964 Kenneth Clark Pottery. Near Mint Condition.
This is a silk screen-printed tile. Depicting a steam railway engine, designed by Ann Wynn-Reeves(or Ann Clark as she became following her marriage to Kenneth Clark) and produced in the 1960s. In fact the tile blank(made by H& R Johnson Ltd. has a date code for 1964. The tile is 6 inches square and is almost mint. There is one tiny chip/frit in the front top right hand corner as can be seen in the last photo. Apart from this the tile has no cracks. Chips or crazing and no wear or surface scratches. The rear of the tile is clean. Probably about as good an example as one could hope to find. A really fabulous tile. Please email with any queries and I will get back to you as soon as I can. Description This vintage circa 1940-60's Talavera Pottery tin glazed faience 4" tile. Is hand potted in coarse red earthenware(terracotta) and hand painted with floral foliate design in cobalt blue, yellow, green, russet and black over a cream white glazed ground. This lovely little tile has some black markings to the back but we cannot make them out and could be just accidental kiln firing marks. CONDITION It is in good condition but does have old crackle in the glaze and a small glaze flake nick to the edge. The tile has a quite domed shape to it(please see photos) DIMENSIONS Length 10.4cm. 4& 1/8" inches) width 10.3cm, 4& 1/16" inches) thickness 8-9mm.5/16(of an inch) unpacked weight 159 grams.
