It forms part of the Rustic scenes collection designed by William Wise and has a date of around 1885. It is decorated in a blue and white glaze and features a young lady who is in the countryside and is depicted intently inspecting a small flower. Condition Report The tile is in very good condition for it's v intage with no large chips or cracks. It does show some signs of age and usage with some small nibbles and chips to the edges but these are minimal and the tile does show very well and would be very usable. Antique Victorian English Blue & White Floral Printed Tulip Tile Lea & Boulton
Up for auction is a pretty Victorian floral printed tile by Lea& Boulton. This tile is printed with a lovely design featuring tulips and associated foliage surrounded by a scrolled border decorated with part leaves& other designs. The pattern on the tile is printed in a steel blue colour(greyish blue) On an off-white background. The surface of the tile has a nice glossy finish. The tile measures 6 inches square. This tile is in good condition. The four corners have all been neatly shaped probably to fit the tile into its original setting. This has been done professionally probably at the time of manufacture and in any event prior to the tile being decorated. As the glaze continues over the shaped edges. The edges and corners are generally in nice condition. There is a very small shallow chip to the bottom left corner. Very tiny& ... moreshallow chip/ nic to bottom edge near left corner. Tiny bits of grazing to top edge near left corner and left edge about an inch up from bottom corner- but all extremely minimal and restricted to the very outer edges. There is a little blurring/ smudging to the print affecting a tiny area in the top left corner area. And a few specks of blue and other colours in the white areas, as well as a few very tiny indents and raised areas to the surface- all manufacturing flaws common with tiles from this period. The tile has overall crazing which is pale in colour& a little scratching to the surface commensurate with age and use. Please enlarge photos to see tile in more detail. If you would like to see a fullsize photo. Get in touch and I'll email it to you. The reverse of the tile bears the embossed word'ENGLAND' and the maker's mark'L.T. across the centre. There is a little additional minor nibbling& a small shallow chip that has been glazed over. In short a lovely example of an attractive printed period blue& white tile. ANTIQUE SET VICTORIAN AESTHETIC MOVEMENT ORIENTAL BLUE & WHITE FLOWER TILES 1890
You are invited to bid on this set of four antique Victorian ceramic tiles dating to approx. c1890's. These lovely Aesthetic Movement tiles have been decorated with stylised oriental flowers on leafy stems with a pattern band border. They bear no makers marks and each tile measures 6" square. Generally these tiles are in good antique condition. There is slight discolouration to one tile with two small old chips. A couple of small chips on the edge of another tile, rubbing on the edges and general age related crazing. A lovely set of Aesthetic Movement ceramic tiles. 12 Blue& White Victorian/Aesthetic Sunflower Design Transfer Printed Tiles This set of 12 tiles probably came from a fireplace or washstand and would probably be ideal for that purpose again or anywhere that some decorative tiles would look good. Although they are blue and white they do look a bit on the gray side in certain lights. There are no markings to the underside and I have not been able to find similar pattern so I do not know the maker. Condition: These are old used tiles. 3 of which have been untidily trimmed down one edge(obviously made to fit in the original place of rest) The colour does vary from tile to tile and they are mostly crazed. Some have marks and one of the trimmed tiles has brown marks and staining of the crazing. There are small nibbles on the edge of some of these tiles and other manufacturing flaws and blemishes ... moreincluding areas of missing glaze. Please see photos below and if you need more, please let me know. Size: Complete tiles 15.4cm x 15.4cm. Trimmed tiles are about 15cm wide. Depth 1cm. One is numbered 360 and the other 362 to the back but no other markings. In good overall condition. They are both somewhat marked. As would be expected for their age and usage, and a little rough around the edges. 4 ANTIQUE VICTORIAN MINTON HOLLINS BLUE& WHITE FLORAL CERAMIC TILES These lovely antique tiles have a blue and white decorative pattern and were made by Minton Hollins of Stoke upon Trent England. The tiles are in good condition considering their age. One of the tiles is missing part of its top left corner and all the tiles have some minor nibbles to their edge. All of the tiles have various levels of tile cement still attached. As visible in the photos. There is also some crazing to the glaze present on all the tiles, but this does not detract from the quality of the decoration. A lovely 6 inch square Victorian tile with a simple blue and white design of four corner motifs and a central Tudor style rose. The tile is in good original condition with only a few minor edge chips. There also appears to be a slight fault with the transfer print near one of the corner motifs. 7 ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS MINTON. STOKE ON TRENT TILES THE ARE ALL THE SAME WITH A LITTLE DIFFERENT BACK ON TWO. VERY VERY MINOR CHIPS ON CORNERS BUT STILL EXTREMELY USABLE. ONE TILE DOES HAVE SLIGHTLY MORE WEAR ON THE BACK AS PICTURED IT LOOKS LIKE THESE WERE USED FOR DISPLAY BASED ON THE FELT WHICH CAME OFF EASILY SHIPPING IS PRIORITY ONLY AND IT WILL BE PACKED AND THEN PACKED IN ANOTHER BOX AS THIS IS THE ONLY SET WITH THIS PATTERN THAT I HAVE SEEN BASED ON THE GLOBAL MARKING ON THE BACK THEY DATE TO C1863-1872 I HAVE ATTACHED A LITTLE HISTORICAL INFORMATION BASED ON SOME RESEARCH FROM THE ERA OF THE TILE PRODUCTION BUT I AM NOT AN EXPERT In 1870. Minton's Art Pottery Studio was established in Kensington, London, under the direction of the painter W. S. This blue and white Victorian printed tile has a classical style pattern. It shows various stylized leaves within a rope border. It is 6 inches square and in good condition. GENUINE MINTON VICTORIAN BLUE AND WHITE `STYLIZED DAISIES` TILE
This tile was made in Stoke on Trent at the Minton China Works. It appears on the back of their catalogue for 1885 No. 612G but in green. This tile is printed in blue and white. It is 6 inches square and in good condition. The back is shown in picture#2. Please note that this is an original Victorian tile and not a copy.
