Antique Majolica tile victorian aesthetic style sepia
Original early century tiles INTRODUCTION Attention the items you are bidding are ORIGINAL ca 1900 tiles. These tiles are part of the vast Victorian style spectrum. Tiles have not relief and have surface printed designs with naturalistic. Geometric images on them, colors are firm and well defined. These tiles are very suitable for a charming home interior decor, casual, romantic feel. English country style emphasizes coziness and our relationship with nature. These are the tiles to choose if you want an air of both distinction but also as fresh as a country cottage done in garden florals. ITEM DESCRIPTION Very attractive tile. Drawn in sepia transfer printed, subtile flowers and thorny tails, a perfect abstraction of a victorian garden. STYLE: Aesthetic(Late Victorian) TECHNIQUE: Manufacture: Dust pressed clay tile using a mould& horsehead ... morepress. Then burned. Decoration: surface printed designs. ORIGIN: England Either George Woolliscroft& Son or T&R Boote. MARKS: Each tile has a characteristic factory background some factories used stamped logos on reverse. DIMENSIONS: 6x6 inches each tile. Thickness of biscuit depends but usually is 0.33 inches aprox. APPROXIMATE DATE: Between 1890 to 1910 ITEM CONDITION This tile is in very fine condition. No flaws or repairs exist. Cement on reverse was carefully removed so minimal traces are remaining. Surface, as you can see, has a firm color and smooth glaze surface. Only minimal scratches and tiny chips may be seen, most of them on edges but that is hidden with grouting when reinstalling. Nothing for a more than 100 year old architectural piece. If you are buying many of them and you want a picture to have a look of the general condition no problem to supply. But image shown is well representative of tiles you will get. English Victorian 6" Transfer Printed Tile, Calla Lily, Bamboo, Aesthetic Period
This is a very striking transfer printed and hand colored 6 inch ceramic tile. Presumably from the Victorian period. I can't figure out the English registry mark on the back, so I'm not sure of its age. It features a central image of calla lillies surrounded by a bamboo framework with other flowers and leaves around the edges. It is about three eighths of an inch thick. The tile is in good condition for its age. There are some fine scratches across the center as shown in the photos. Please contact me with any questions you might have.

Interesting Antique Victorian Aesthetic Movement Brown & White Floral Print Tile
Up for auction is an attractive Victorian Aesthetic Movement floral printed brown& white tile. This tile is interesting in that it is an identified Mintons design. However it bears the maker's mark for Lea& Boulton. It is possible that both firm's produced the same design or that Mintons have used blank Lea& Boulton tiles to print their design on. This tile is printed with a lovely design in dark brown depicting a central diamond decorated with an urn filled with swirling flowers and foliage. The remaining tile surface is filled with swirls of flowers and stems against a speckled background surrounded by a simple white border and an external brown border. You are invited to bid on this set of four antique Victorian ceramic tiles dating to approx. c1890's. These lovely Aesthetic Movement tiles have been decorated with stylised oriental flowers on leafy stems with a pattern band border. They bear no makers marks and each tile measures 6" square. Generally these tiles are in good antique condition. There is slight discolouration to one tile with two small old chips. A couple of small chips on the edge of another tile, rubbing on the edges and general age related crazing. A lovely set of Aesthetic Movement ceramic tiles. 12 Blue& White Victorian/Aesthetic Sunflower Design Transfer Printed Tiles This set of 12 tiles probably came from a fireplace or washstand and would probably be ideal for that purpose again or anywhere that some decorative tiles would look good. Although they are blue and white they do look a bit on the gray side in certain lights. There are no markings to the underside and I have not been able to find similar pattern so I do not know the maker. Condition: These are old used tiles. 3 of which have been untidily trimmed down one edge(obviously made to fit in the original place of rest) The colour does vary from tile to tile and they are mostly crazed. Some have marks and one of the trimmed tiles has brown marks and staining of the crazing. There are small nibbles on the edge of some of these tiles and other manufacturing flaws and blemishes ... moreincluding areas of missing glaze. Please see photos below and if you need more, please let me know. Size: Complete tiles 15.4cm x 15.4cm. Trimmed tiles are about 15cm wide. Depth 1cm. This 5 ins tile has a delightful geometric pattern of shells and fantasmagorical beasts. It is thicker than some. So I wonder if it was a floor tile. The reverse has squares rather like Minton and Hollins, but there is no maker's name- only a stamped number in a square plate in the centre where only the end is discernable with numbers 26974. There is something outside the square which may be S& G or another number. The tile has one significant chip to the top right hand corner. The back is clean. This tile comes from the G K BEAULAH tiles sale at Bonhams on 25th January 1995. Some items are marked with a complete Bonhams sticker. Some have original Beaulah registrations on the back. This is an interesting 6 inch Victorian aesthetic tile. It contains a wheat sheaf design. The tile is marked H R T Co England and then appears to have a small 3R mark and a 51 marked in the corner. It is in unused condition but has two chips to the bottom corners. This tile comes from the G K BEAULAH tiles sale at Bonhams on 25th January 1995. It has the original sticker for the sale on the front for lot no 212. On the rear. It has the Beaulah catalogue number: 1334. There is also a red sticker on the edge with a number 225. The tile measures 6 inch square and the back has the capital letter‘B‘ to one corner along with the printed‘AB053/1’ The tile has had its bottom two corners sightly reduced for securing screws when it was fitted to a washstand. Please scroll down under this description for additional views. A single 4 1/4" square ceramic tile marked TRENT TILE TRENTON. N.J. U.S.A. on the back. Mossy green color on a low bas relief geometric floral that would have looked right at home in the Aesthetic Victorian home. The tile had a very glass-like glaze that is very crazed and has scratches and wear on the high points of the design. Still a nice little size for display or use as a trivet. Victorian Aesthetic Style Tile- Sunflowers
Description This is a very attractive glazed Victorian tile. It is printed in brown and cream with an Aesthetic style design of Sunflowers. I do not know the maker. The Tile has a small nibble to the glaze on one corner and a chip and nibble to the edge on one side. Please see the photos. No cracks or restoration, the glaze on the top of the central Sunflower has been unevenly applied and has not covered completely. There is a small paper label attached with the number"84" I don't know if this is a reference number for someone's collection or if it has other significance so have not removed it. Nice clean front and reasonably clean back. There is a shallow surface crack. Firing fault to the front but this does not run into the body of the tile. Additionally, slight loss to the back, otherwise very good condition.

Just some smoke stains, with a printed design registration number and'S.H. 79' plus a raised Staffordshire knot within a triangle. Post Civil War Victorian Aesthetic Architectural Brick Tile Terra Cotta Sycamore
Post Civil War. Probably 1860-80's red glazed brick architectural tile. The stippled surface has a leafy sycamore branch stretching diagonally across the surface. The edges of the leaves curl and rise high from the surface. The texture of the clay and finish is similar to pieces made by the Northwestern Terra Cotta Company of Chicago.
