Original 1932 Galdding McBean California Tile Pottery Catalog 1932
This is an original Gladding catalog from 1932- I found this at the estate of William Muir. Owner of Muresque tiles. The catalog is 8x11 and as you can see, is in poor shape. It is still a good resource for identification of pottery. Pickup and delivery are always possible if you live in Ca. Very. Very Rare Gladding McBean& Co. Hermosa Pink/ Salmon Colored 4 1/4" Tile. The tile has a semi gloss or matte finish rather than the normal glossy tile finish. The tile is 4 1/4" x 4 1/4" and 1/4" thick. It's in mint condition. It has no chips, cracks, repairs, or anything else. It's never been hung.The back is clearly marked. Up for sale is a vintage Gladding McBean Tile done in Traditional Mexican Style. It has a Man taking a Siesta or nap up against a Cactus. He is wearing a sombrero laying down with a large jug in between his feet. It measures 4 1/4" square. these tiles are done on The hermosa line of tiles. and the mexico series is quite hard to find. It is collected by california pottery collectors. Gladding McBean. Los Angeles, CA 1890-1962 Four matte glaze colors cover the smooth surface of this thick, vintage GMB tile. A shield with two crossing skeleton keys is set on the diagonal and each corner has a leaf motif. Gladding McBean LA plant at College and Date Streets mainly produced architectural terra cotta, roofing tiles and decorative tiles using red clay. This is a rare vintage 1940's patio. Garden(or indoors if you like) table. The Tile is Hermosa from Gladding McBean. The middle tile is removable and there is a hole for an umbrella stand to go through. All of the tiles are there and they are in great shape. The 4 legged base is steel and has been stripped of paint and can be easily repainted if you like. The table is 43" in diameter and approximately 29" high. 1950s Gladding McBean Hermosa Tile in Metal Trivet Set Gay 90s Couple Wall Hanging. This is a cute set that dates to the 1950’s with a man and woman dressed in what I would say are 1890’s garb. These are hand painted. And signed“Yentom” as far as I can tell. The tile trivets are held in by metal prongs on a decorative circular design which acts as framing. There are hangers on the back for wall display when they aren’t being used as trivets. Condition is excellent. The woman trivet has a tiny rust spot on the bottom of the back side of the metal; they both have fleabites on the back corners and edges. The woman has a larger chip on back under the glaze(see photos) The fronts are shiny. But small scratches can be seen under bright light. The man has a small black stain shown in one of the photos which I could not remove. None of these things ... moreare glaring. They look worse than they are in the enlarged photos, but I want to mention them for the sake of accuracy. When I first saw it, I had no idea about the maker it but I knew instantly I had to have it, because the colors- from the bluish cloudy background sky to the happy yellow roses- are stunning. A beautiful vintage large(12"x6" Hermosa tile from Gladding McBean of colorful tropical fish in pink. Gold, silver, yellow, green, grayish black and blue against an aqua blue background. The gold and silver also accent other areas giving this piece depth and dimension. It is in wonderful condition for its age. No breaks. A couple of small chips here and there on the back edges and one small chip in the upper right corner front. This item also has two natural flaws that apparently took place during its production/firing. Please review pictures closely. This tile measures 4-1/2 inches at the widest points(point to point) and 4 inches to the flat edges. It is 3/8 of an inch thick. As you can see from the photos. It has some little chips and fleabites around the edge.

This strange little tile shows a raised bulb shaped body with legs and feet. The tile has a long hexagon shape and a beautiful, teal/aqua colored glaze. Gladding McBean. Los Angeles, CA 1890-present Vintage tile comes from GMB's Hermosa line dated 1937-1962 and depicts a colonial era man playing a guitar. Satiny gray glaze with matte white. Very good condition; has minor edge wear. Measures 6" sq x 1/4" thick. Signed, never set. This tile appears in Norman Karlson's Encyclopedia of American Art Tiles, Region 6, page 200.

Very mid century abstract depictions of a horse and pig? on porcelain tiles. Signed Yentom. Made by Gladding McBean, Hermosa California, c1950. It is believed that Helen Motney did some special work for GMB and used the pseudonym"Motney" for that work only. Reasons unclear. These certainly are a radical departure from her usually Mexican style decorations. Her work is dynamic, abstract, elegant in its simplicity and detail. These two are unique, in great condition, tiles are 6" square, framed they are 8" square. The only damage is a hanging hook glued to back of the tiles, one missing. Vintage Antique Gladding McBean Hermosa Tile Table c.1940's Indoor or Outdoor
An indoor or outdoor tile and steel table that is probably one of a kind. The tile is Gladding McBean Hermosa tile. All tiles are intact and there's no missing. Loose, or chipped pieces. The center tile lifts out for an umbrella. The steel base and legs are rust free and the paint has been removed showing the raw steel coloring. This table is very solid and the 4 legs hold it in place without any wobble. Because of the tile, this table is probably from the mid-late 1940's. The diameter is 43.5" and the height is 28.5"
