2 ANTIQUE PROVIDENTIAL TRENTON 6" X 6" ART POTTERY TILES BEARDED MAN WEARING HAT
These two antique pottery tiles from the Providential Tile Works in Trenton. N.J. are of the same man, but with a different tint. The blue tile is not marked in the back, and has a 1/2" chip to the back edge. If it were installed into a wall or a fireplace trim, it would not show. The green tile has a 1/4" chip to the nose, as well as a couple of small chips to the back edge. This tile is marked the Providential Tile Works, Trenton, N.J. There is crazing throughout both pieces, but the front edges on both are complete. We are a smoke free home. There are no handling fees and we reimburse excess postage. Lot of 34 pcs Antique art tiles made by the Hamilton Tile Works of Hamilton Ohio. Marked on the backs. 1-1/2 x 6-1/8" x 3/8" thick. Blue. Rust brown and ivory glaze. Hamilton was in operation from 1883-1901. So these tiles are at least 114 years old. They have survived quite well! Most are in nearly perfect condition. Any defects are not worth mentioning. Exceptionally beautiful tiles in exceptional condition. A rare find! A premium lot of 100 year old tiles. Cleaned of mortar and grout and ready to be installed.
