Antique Victorian MINTON Tile. Lady in Classical Pose. Swags. Marked on Back 1.
This is the first of three antique Minton tiles I am selling. They have different designs. But are similar colours and period. The tile measures 6" x 6" It shows a lady in a classical pose in the centre. With swags on either side and on the bottom. I'm not very good on periods; maybe a bit Regency or Greek Revival? The tile is marked on the back MINTONS CHINA WORKS STOKE ON TRENT ENGLAND. It is difficult to show this clearly in the photo. There are no chips. Will be sent 2nd class within the U.K. and I am happy to combine postage if you buy more than one. These tiles are heavy. So International postage will be quite expensive.

Late 19th century art tile made by the J and JG low art tile company of Chelsea Massachusetts. Low went out of business in 1912. Central flower surrounded by a vine and leaves. Signed on the back. Neo-classical stylized acanthus with a beaded border in subway white with pale teal highlights. Fantastic. Fine crazing. These are truly beautiful tiles and perhaps a enough for your project. Lot of 34 pcs Antique art tiles made by the Hamilton Tile Works of Hamilton Ohio. Marked on the backs. 1-1/2 x 6-1/8" x 3/8" thick. Blue. Rust brown and ivory glaze. Hamilton was in operation from 1883-1901. So these tiles are at least 114 years old. They have survived quite well! Most are in nearly perfect condition. Any defects are not worth mentioning. Exceptionally beautiful tiles in exceptional condition. A rare find! A premium lot of 100 year old tiles. Cleaned of mortar and grout and ready to be installed.
