VINTAGE MILITARY INDUSTRIAL SCHOOL 16" inch WORLD GLOBE Crams Project Rare LOOK!
This is a rare vintage Crams 16" project world globe. I did some reaserch and can't find another one like it. But I am not a globe expert. That being said, due to condition of globe this would probably be more of a decor item than a globe collector item. I have included 12 pics so that you can see what the condition is. It did not have a base when I found it in a barn, literally, so I improvised and used a antique Christmas tree stand. The pole I believe is original, but was all rusty, so I painted the pole and stand a vintage enamel color. The globe I cleaned and coated with a satin clear finish to help protect rest of it from pealing. The Globe stands approx 4 feet tall and has the ability to extend another 2-3 feet. Description I believe this globe is from the early WWII era. Possibly around 1939. This is my best guess as not everything on the map is consistent with a specific era. Reasons I believe this is from circ 1939 are listed below: Irish Free State(become Ireland in 1937) Italian East Africa(established in 1936) Manchukuo(renamed by Japan when they seized control of Manchuria from1931-1945) Taiwan as a territory of Japan(occupation by Japan ended with their surrender to the USN in 1945) There is no Israel or Lebanon(established 1948 and 1943 respectively) Poland(not yet shown as part of Germany when it was invaded in 1939 until Allied victory in 1945) The school globe is covered with 12 individual paper gores and has a diameter of 8" and a total height of 11" The meridian is made of metal. The globe has definitely seen better days but ... morestill a good-looking globe. Some separation of the paper gores and cracks throughout. As well as the expected scuffing and paper wear consistent with its age and former use as a school teaching aid. This is for a vintage milk glass globe. Ceiling light fixture shade. It is approx 8" wide and 6 1/2" tall with a 3 3/4" fitter.The fitter does have some roughness. This seems to be normal for vintage light globes. The globe itself has no chips or cracks. Some of the milk glass globes have imperfections in them and this one does it is a line that swirls around the top. It is not a crack just somethin that happened when it was made. Vintage Suspension/Hanging School World Globe, Pulley System, Rand McNally, Rare
This is a rare vintage hanging world globe. Made by Rand McNally. It attaches to the wall and has a weight at one end of the rope to raise and lower the globe. It is beautiful and looks amazing hanging on the wall. The globe is not in mint condition. There is tape running around the equator, as you can see in the pictures, and it shows general wear and tear. The are a few paint speckles too, which show up the best in the Rand McNally picture. The globe measures 38" in circumference and about 11" in diameter. There are no dents or cracks but there are some light scuffs here and there. Like I said, definitely not mint condition, but a great rare find!
