This is a vintage globe by Britannica(Replogle perhaps) and is black form I think the 1950's. Russia is shown as the United Soviet Republic(USSR) The base shined up great. The swivel semi-circular holder could use some polishing. There is an area near the equator line(photo 2) which is missing some black paper. This vintage Replogle Encyclopedia Brittannica 12" black World Globe is in pretty good condition. There are some spots of paper loss and some scuffs. Smudges, marks etc from use and age to be expected. Don't know the exact age- guessing 1960s- but some of the countries in Africa are Rhodesia(now Zimbabwe) and Democratic Republic of the Congo(then Zaire) Silver colored metal base is in good condition. An Early Airplane Base Weber c1935 Black Oceans Weber Costello A very early example of Weber Costello's most popular and successful models. The Airplane base black oceans globe. This 1930's airplane base is not chromed but of a pot metal with a satin finish. Note the elongated fixed finials that are specific to this particular globe and the more stubby shaped plane that represents the Art Deco style of the thirties. The map displays Pre-WW2 borders c1935 prior to any German expansion into Europe. This vintage railroad lantern is cute but has some pitting on the bottom so would not hold actual oil today. Great for a decorative piece. No 23-P or 23-0 original red globe with wavy glass. Here is the Replogle 12" Starlight world globe featuring black oceans. Amazing surface detail, a stunning full chrome plated meridian with chrome base, and a metal black crackle finished platform enclosing the original Replogle atlas. While the globe offers a striking display on its own. It becomes breathtaking when the light inside is switched on. The globe dates from about 1951. Evident from the existence of Pakistan and East Pakistan, Israel has been created, all of the African countries still have their colonial names, Vietnam is still Indo-China, and Korea is unpartitioned. The globe is in outstanding condition with all paper gores tight on the glass beneath. No noteworthy marks mar the surface- no tears, writing, or scratches, and the time dial is at the north pole. The chrome elements are also in superb condition with only the ... moreoccasional and tiniest pitting on the base. The black crackle platform is completely clean with an excellent black finish free of any chips. It has all four feet. The original Replogle Comprehensive World Atlas is likewise excellent. All 400 pages are in place. There are no owner names or other comments written anywhere, and all maps are bright and free of fading. Also included are the booklet"The Story of the Globe" the instruction sheet for changing the interior light bulb(a 40 watt incandescent) the original hang tag extolling the advantages of a Replogle globe, and a hang tag showing that the globe is approved by Parents Magazine. The only things I removed from the atlas were two Dubble Bubble wrappers being used as bookmarks. The book cover is in place with a taped 2" tear on the back. Overall. The globe measures about 18" high, 14" wide, and weighs about 10 lbs. unpacked. This remarkably fine globe is rarely seen in such extraordinary condition and. Even then, is usually missing the atlas. VERY COOL Vintage Starlight Black Repogle Globe Very Good Condition
This is a nice vintage Repogle Starlight globe. This globe has a few blemishes. But given it's age, it has been well cared for. There are two places along the equator where the black finish is gone, a milky swirl, and it appears that the finish is a little less bright on the northern hemisphere than on the southern, perhaps from dusting. The globe has a couple more scratches, but they are slight compared to what I already described. I believe I pictured all spots of concern. Please email for additional pics. The finish on the base is in good shape. Overall, I believe this is a very nice vintage globe, with a greater cool factor being a starlight globe. Good luck!

Vintage Weber black Costello Globe approx 16 inches tall and 12 inches wide. Some scratches in the finish on base. Clear tape around the center of the globe where the 2 half connect. Might have seperated at one time and was taped together( Some loss of the finish were the 2 halves connects.

VINTAGE REPLOGLE PRECISION GLOBE BLACK OCEAN 12" - Chrome base
Vintage Replogle globe on a metal base. According the Replogle website it appears to be from the late 1940s to the early 1950s. Israel is named. Which happened in 1948, but"INDO-CHINA" is still present, which included Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia and that did not happen until the late 1950s. Cool mid-century accent to your office or living room. In overall great vintage condition with a nice patina look on the base. It has the look you'd expect from something this old. Vintage Replogle Black 1950's glass globe illuminated Eiffel tower base no res
This is an auction for a vintage globe that accommodates a light bulb within at the bottom. I think a lower wattage would probably work better. This globe has some chips and a few dime sized areas missing but overall presents well. My guess is late 50's early 60's with the wire base being popular around then. It will need a little extra care packing if the winner is not local. Will ship whatever way makes the most sense. Thanks for looking.
