It's in good condition, with a few small spots where the paper has come off, as seen in the photos. It lights up from within for a soft glow. The stand has a few small nicks and dings, but nothing major. Also, there are 2 red spots on the lower ring of the base. I've tried to wipe them off, but they appear to be permanent. I'm not sure what the red marks are, but it looks like paint. The base sits on 3 metal casters. I don't know the exact manufacture date. But I believe it was made before 1971. The center equator line is missing almost all the way around. George F. Cram 12" Imperial Terrestial Globe w/ swing meridian This World Globe dates back to the 1960's. It is in near mint condition. There is only a hairline crack near where the coypright is in the Pacific Ocean. The meridian. Base, etc. are gold plastic, and intact. The George F. Cram Company is still one of the nation's leading publishers and manufacturers of maps. Atlases and globes. The Company traces its roots to 1867 when Rufus Blanchard took his 25 year-old nephew George F. Cram into business with him in Evanston, Illinois. Prior to that Blanchard had prospered through the sale of globes, maps, and books. Cram had served in the Union Army during the Civil War. The company of the uncle and nephew, which sold maps and atlases, was named Blanchard& Cram. Cram took full control of the firm in 1869, renamed it George ... moreF. Cram, and moved it to Chicago. The great Chicago fire of 1871 destroyed that business; however, Cram re-established the company as the Cram Map Depot. By 1875, the Cram Map Depot had begun publishing a wide range of atlases which were the core business of the company through World War I and the 1920s. The popular"Unrivaled Atlas of the World"was printed continuously from the 1880’s to 1952. At age 79 in 1921. Cram sold his company to one of his largest customers, E.A. Peterson. Peterson merged it with his own business, the National Map Company, and moved the business to Indianapolis, Indiana. Peterson changed the firm's name to The George F. Cram Company in 1928, the year in which Cram died. It was not until the early 1930s that Cram began making globes. These were made for both the home and school markets and came in a range of sizes from 8" to 16" in diameter. This is a great vintage mid-century globe from the George F. Cram Company of Indiana. I got it at an estate auction house in Sunnyvale. CA. This globe was made sometime between 1958 to 1961: globe shows Hawaii as the 50th US state(1959) globe shows Taganyika-the country became Tanzania in 1961- globe shows The United Arab Republic(1958-1961) globe shows Madagascar as independent from France(1960) globe shows French West Africa, Belgian Congo and French Equatorial Africa(these ceased to exist in 1960) The globe is marked"Cram's Universal Terrestrial Globe 10-1/2 inch, Made by the George F. Cram Co. Indianapolis, Indiana" Natural scale- 1=47,800,000 One inch = 755 Statute Miles The globe rests on a gold-tone metal stand and spins well. The metal stand is in excellent shape. There is a 2" long section of the equatorial tape ... morejust under Ceylon that is loose(see photo) I have not attempted to fix it, although it could be carefully glued back into place. The globe is about 33-3/4" in circumference and is about 16" tall. Up for bid a 12 inch Cram's Imperial world globe with ocean currents and trade routes. I believe it is from the 60's but I am not a history buff. I have listed some reasons why I beleieve it is from the 60's below. I see no damage to globe. No cracks, no writting, no repairs. The base is clean but has some scrathces from use over the years. Has Germany but no east or west. Union of Soviet Socialist Republics existed between 1922 and 1991. Northern Rhodesia was a territory in south africa formed in 1911. It became independent in 1964 as Zambia. Southern Rhodesia f ollowing its Decleration of Independance in 1965. It was known as simply hodesia until 1979, when under majority rule as the unrecognised state of Zimbabwe. Bechuanaland was formed in 1885. And became the Republic of Botswana in September 1966. Up for auction is an extremely rare 1920's George F. Cram Company(Indianapolis. Indiana USA) 12 inch Terrestrial Globe with wooden base. Dated to between 1924-1928. The piece is entirely original and has a natural aged patina. There are a few small, natural age cracks in the globe occuring near the Equator as can be seen in the photos. Everything is as it should be. Very good condition for such and old Cram globe.

Vintage George F. Cram 9" Terrestrial World Globe with Metal Base Age ??
Nice vintage 9" Terrestrial World Globe manufactured by George F. Cram Co. Indianapolis Indiana. I am not sure of the actual age of the globe since I have been unable to find a date. The base and degree ring is made of metal. Russia is listed as the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and Iran is listed as Persia. The United States is listed as the Tribes of the North American Continent(just kidding) It is not that old. Noted at the top are the dates where explorers reached the North Pole: Peary-1909-Sledge. Byrd-1926-Airplane, and Amundson-1926-Dirigible. The globe contains an Analemma showing the Sun's Declination for everyday in the year and Ocean Currents are well noted. Vintage CRAM'S Imperial WORLD GLOBE Gold Metal Base with 12" Double Axis Globe. From the George F. Cram Company Inc. Indianapolis. Indiana. U.S.A. Very Good Condition except for a rub mark on the bottom over Antarctica( see photos 9.10) Very hard to see being on the bottom and where it is at. Looks like a small collar was missing that caused the globe to scrape on the axis and a small spacer was added to prevent future marks. The rest of the Globe is in Great to Excellent Condition with the Base being scratch and dent free. Base is 9" wide and the Globe stands 16" tall. Payment is due within 3 days. ANTIQUE MAP 1920 PA PENNSYLVANIA VERY LARGE WALL MAP GEORGE CRAM CENSUS RARE
You just found a very rare 1920 census map of Pennsylvania. It was manufactured by George F Cram Company out of Chicago. This is a true find very rare. It was folded and stored out of the light for over 50 years. The backing is canvas and it was previously hung from the brass holes at the top. Since it was folded. It has fold marks but this can easily be framed and displayed in your home or office. It's a lovely map with beautiful color with no missing pieces. This is the perfect map for that rare map collector. It measures 40-1/2" x 49-1/2" Nice and big to mount on that empty wall! Shipping includes insurance.

Vintage Geo. F. Cram 8" Terrestrial Globe No. 80 C1059 Perfect desk size at 8" Nice. Vintage George F. Cram globe possibly from 1959. Africa still shows French West Africa. French Equitorial Africa, Belgian Congo. all before the major breaking of African colonies in 1960s. Ceylon(now Sri Lanka) is still shown. Definitely before the 1970's. Globe has a metal base. Some of the paint is chipped off on it. Rests nice and evenly on a flat surface. No wobbling. Globe spins nicely: not too loose and not too tight. Interestingly. There's pins and string stuck in/on the globe from the previous owner. Possibly tracking locations of their own global travels or a loved one's or something else all together. The globe underneath the string has a brighter surface so this path was tracked quite a while ago. Gives the whole item an unique ... morelook. Globe is grungier at the top than it is at the bottom. The equator is beginning to detach. There's a couple areas of chips in the paper. There's LOTS of areas with surface scratches and other wear and a few empty pinholes. All the original. Vintage wear and tear is there. This little globe was used quite a bit. I belie ve the Geo. F. Cram Company discontinued making globes just earlier this year.
