Excellent for display or historical reference! The George F. Cram Company is still one of the nation's leading publishers and manufacturers of maps. Atlases and globes. The Company was started in 1867, and began making globes for homes and schools in the early 1930s. These were made for both the home and school markets and came in a range of sizes from 8" to 16" in diameter. The product line included"Cram's Universal Terrestrial Globes" featuring a choice of sizes and styles of mountings. This globe is one of that popular line. At age 79 in 1921. Cram sold his company to one of his largest customers, E.A. Peterson. Peterson merged it with his own business, the National Map Company, and moved the business to Indianapolis, Indiana. Vintage 9" Cram's Imperial Terrestrial World Globe Cardboard
This is a very nice small 9" Cram's Imperial cardboard globe made in the late 1980s or early 1990s. It has a cardboard globe mounted on a gold painted base and half meridian with nicely joined gores. It has a metal time dial(looks to be aluminum) And the cartouche reads"COPYRIGHT THE GEORGE F. CRAM COMPANY, INC. INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA, MADE IN THE U. S. A. I dated this globe before 1991 because Zaïre's name was changed to the Democratic Republic of Congo in 1997, and Morocco is generally accepted to have ruled the Western Sahara since 1991. Also, fifteen nations were established from the former USSR in 1991. As far as condition, the paper and cardboard construction of the globe are fine, and the paint on the metal components is in very good condition with no oxidation. A very rare Cram's 16" Deluxe Political Terrestrial World Globe that lights up. Its sits on a double metal axis and has a solid wood base. There is some delaminating of the paper where the globe comes apart where the bulb is at the bottom of the globe. It spins but you have to manually spin it around. You cant grab it and spin it and watch it go around. Picture number 5 is the natural way the globe sits. It has No. 16 and C83 o the label. A little work and you have a nice rare globe. Cram's Unrivaled Terrestrial Globe -12 Inch
Early Cram’s terrestrial Globe with Art Deco mounting Cram's Unrivaled Terrestrial Globe-12 Inch- Made by the George F. Cram Company. Indianapolis, Indiana George F. Cram Company began in-house production of globes circa 1932. The political borders place this early model to be circa 1936-1941. This handsome art deco globe features a cast iron base and aluminum full meridian with pasteboard construction of the orb, giving it a substantial feel. The orb and full meridian are cradled in a cast iron base which allows the orb to slide/rotate changing the axis angle. The globe's height is approximately 16.5 inches tall and 13.5 inches wide overall including the stand and meridian. The piece is in very good condition with only some fading to the mapping. There are no cracks or breaks to the cast iron components.

This is a Cram.S DeLuxe terrestrial 12 inch globe with automatic daily syn ray and season indicator. The only date I can see on it says copyright in Canada 1936. The globe reads union of soviet socialist republics. The total height including stand is 18 inches. The globe has really darkened with age so it is hard to see much of the writing and details on it. It would be a great piece of decor though.

You are viewing a vintage. I'm guessing 1970's) Cram's Imperial world Globe. It stands about 34" tall and is mounted on a wood pole that stands about 17.5" tall. The pole is connected to a 10" diameter metal base. The pole and base show vintage ware. Look at photos to see. The globe measures 12" in diameter and is mounted on it's axis by a rotating plastic gold colored support beams. They too show vintage ware. You can see paint missing on the top, near the axis on the support beam.The globe shows ware as well. The line around the equator is missing. It weighs about four pounds and is easy to move. It lifts off the stand and SWIVELS around when set in BASE. Since this is an old item- there is some discoloration on globe. As well as scuffs. The stand needs polishing on wood. The stand has a few small nicks and dings, but nothing major. Also, there are 2 red spots on the lower ring of the base. I've tried to wipe them off, but they appear to be permanent. I'm not sure what the red marks are, but it looks like paint. The base sits on 3 metal casters. I don't know the exact manufacture date. But I believe it was made before 1971. c. 1940 Light Up Cram's 10 1/2" Terrestrial Globe Ornate Fish Holder Wood Base
c.1940 light up 10 1/2" Terrestrial globe manufactured by Cram's of Indianapolis. IN. Globe is glass and rests in a highly detailed fish shaped cradle. The cradle is mounted to a wood base that sits on four feet. Wood appears to retain the original finish and so does the fish. Wood does have a white scrape on the backside, see image 12. Finish on fish is immaculate. Original C finial is present. Globe does have some finish loss in two different forms. One is a total loss of paper, see images 5 and 6. There are some other small holes of tis type, but the main area it up near the North Pole. Images 4 and 7 show the other type of finish loss. There is an area of land in Africa that is lighter in color than the rest of the globe, see image 4. On the backside in the ocean there is a similar patch, see image 7. Images 10 and 11 reference ... moreIran and Palestine. Fixture was disassembled, socket was rewired on the spring loaded mount, and a new cord was installed. The original plug end was also reinstalled. The light inside the globe is operated by a pull chain socket that exits from the South Pole, see image 8. Fixture measures 15" tall. Super Art Deco 12" CRAM'S Universal Terrestrial World Globe late 1930s
This fantastic late 1930's CRAM'S Universal Terrestrial GLOBE is a great find in great condition! The globe itself is a 12" size. The overall height. With base& meridian, is 17" it is approximately 13.5" at its' widest; the base diameter is 8" The look is so right: the original true blue has aged to more of an aqua blue(just what collectors are looking for) it has an impressive. Heavy, cast iron full meridian, painted to look like brass; it's bronze-look metal base has an art deco stepped design. Not only is the look there. But the condition is as well(see my many pics) The globe is sturdy& tight; there's no separation at the equator as is found on many vintage globes; very little discoloration(at a few of the seam lines only) or missing pieces of the paper surface(here& there very inconsequential ... morebits have scuffed off) The cast iron meridian& metal base surfaces are in excellent condition- there's even some gold striping on the"bronze" base. All in all, a very well-constructed vintage globe, meant to last, it surely has! By itself the globe weighs a hefty 4 lbs. Carefully packed for shipping it will weigh 6 3/4 lbs. You are bidding on a vintage. I'm guessing 1970's) Cram's Imperial world Globe. It stands about 34" tall and is mounted on a wood pole that stands about 17.5" tall. The pole is connected to a 10" diameter metal base. The globe measures 12" in diameter and is mounted on it's axis by a rotating plastic gold colored support beams. The globe is in very good condition with all the information clear and clean. The stand shows vintage wear. This is a great vintage globe. It's old. The base is made of wood and has some flaking on it(see pics) 15 1/2" tall. The cord going into the globe could use a little tightening. Since when moved the light flickers. Great piece! George F. Cram 12" Imperial Terrestial Globe w/ swing meridian This World Globe dates back to the 1960's. It is in near mint condition. There is only a hairline crack near where the coypright is in the Pacific Ocean. The meridian. Base, etc. are gold plastic, and intact. The George F. Cram Company is still one of the nation's leading publishers and manufacturers of maps. Atlases and globes. The Company traces its roots to 1867 when Rufus Blanchard took his 25 year-old nephew George F. Cram into business with him in Evanston, Illinois. Prior to that Blanchard had prospered through the sale of globes, maps, and books. Cram had served in the Union Army during the Civil War. The company of the uncle and nephew, which sold maps and atlases, was named Blanchard& Cram. Cram took full control of the firm in 1869, renamed it George ... moreF. Cram, and moved it to Chicago. The great Chicago fire of 1871 destroyed that business; however, Cram re-established the company as the Cram Map Depot. By 1875, the Cram Map Depot had begun publishing a wide range of atlases which were the core business of the company through World War I and the 1920s. The popular"Unrivaled Atlas of the World"was printed continuously from the 1880’s to 1952. At age 79 in 1921. Cram sold his company to one of his largest customers, E.A. Peterson. Peterson merged it with his own business, the National Map Company, and moved the business to Indianapolis, Indiana. Peterson changed the firm's name to The George F. Cram Company in 1928, the year in which Cram died. It was not until the early 1930s that Cram began making globes. These were made for both the home and school markets and came in a range of sizes from 8" to 16" in diameter. But the USSR still exists and Vietnam is not divided into North and South. The globe has a metal. Brass colored base and stands approximately 16 inches tall. This is a great vintage mid-century globe from the George F. Cram Company of Indiana. I got it at an estate auction house in Sunnyvale. CA. This globe was made sometime between 1958 to 1961: globe shows Hawaii as the 50th US state(1959) globe shows Taganyika-the country became Tanzania in 1961- globe shows The United Arab Republic(1958-1961) globe shows Madagascar as independent from France(1960) globe shows French West Africa, Belgian Congo and French Equatorial Africa(these ceased to exist in 1960) The globe is marked"Cram's Universal Terrestrial Globe 10-1/2 inch, Made by the George F. Cram Co. Indianapolis, Indiana" Natural scale- 1=47,800,000 One inch = 755 Statute Miles The globe rests on a gold-tone metal stand and spins well. The metal stand is in excellent shape. There is a 2" long section of the equatorial tape ... morejust under Ceylon that is loose(see photo) I have not attempted to fix it, although it could be carefully glued back into place. The globe is about 33-3/4" in circumference and is about 16" tall. Vintage 7" Geo F Cram World Terrestrial Globe Siam Persia French Indo China
Here is a great little 7" paper over metal globe. The globe was made by George F. Cram Company. Indianapolis, Indiana. There's no date but there are the countries of Siam, French Indo China, Persia, an Chosen(Korea) It has little paper loss, mostly at the pivot points on both poles. It twirls in a brass colored stand that can be disassembled. There is also a little paint loss on the bell shape bottom. The paper is soiled where it was touched the most. Vintage 1980s Cram 16" Physical Political Terrestrial Globe Horizon Ring Stand
Vintage HUGE table top globe by George F. Cram. Physical. Political and Terrestrial World Globe on a bronze colored metal stand. The stand is a ste el cradle with horizon ring supported by six conforming steel struts. Globe rotates free within the ring and can be completely removed. Horizon ring base designed by the late Mr. Douthit. President of The George F. Cram Company. A eronautical ring Aeronautical ring displays mileage and reads in estimated propeller cruising speed of 300 mph also jet speed at 600 mph. Unfortunately the globe does have some condition issues on the surface. Particularly around the middle ring. It appears that the ring may have rubbed at some point. Cram’s Universal Terrestrial Globe No 105 circa 1936-39 10.5"
Antique globe made by The George F. Cram Company. Indianapolis, Indiana. The globe is 10.5" and it has a metal stand. It is in excellent condition, the only blemish is about 1" of the circumference missing. The colors are very vibrant. No dings or issues with the base and globe rotates fine. It was manufactured around 1936-39 as it has: Italian East Africa. Which existed as a country only 1936- 1941. Siam. Which became Thailand June, 1939 Iran. Which was changed from Persia 1935.

Rare CRAM UNRIVALED TERRESTRIAL GLOBE 12" Metal Atlas Figures Wooden Base
NOTE: Please be sure to read condition paragraph as I have added one item to it since this globe listed earlier this wee k. Nice post WWII George F. Cram Co. 12" Globe with a cast metal full meridian that fits into a groove in the backs of the two Atlas figures mounted to a wooden base. Globe and meridian lift right off base. Not attached by any means. This version with the blue/green oceans is somewhat rarer than the tan version. The base is 15" long by 5.25" CONDITION: Globe is in very good vintage condition. No major damages. Paper gores have darkened with age particularly along seams but adds a nice patina of age to it. Very glossy finish, not dried out or dull. Two small disturbances to seams near Indiana(pictured) and off the coast of Africa in the Arabian Sea. And a small area of varnish loss on base. A few spots of ... morediscoloration to finish on meridian. None of this detracts greatly, mentioned for accuracy. Korea is undivided. Thailand(Siam) Iran(Persia) and there are notes at North Pole that say"Peary 1909 Sledge" Byrd Airplane 1926" and"Amundsen Dirigible 1926" I am not a globe expert so if there is other information you need.
