An authentic antique shade whose background ... morecolor is a deep turquoise blue at the top that fades into lighter turquoise until it becomes fully white at the fitter end. The shade is decorated with pink morning glories with lovely green leaves. The background color of this shade was“spun painted” so that the color starts out deep at the top of the shade and as the shade is spun around. The color fades until it is completely white at the fitter end of the shade. The technique used to paint the design on these antique shades is referred to as“over-painted transfer, meaning that the intended design was applied to the glass globe like a“decal” and then the artist painted on top of the transfer with the brilliant/lifelike colors. Finally the completely decorated shade was fired in a kiln. The shade retains its original brass top ring. Has a standard 4-inch fitter rim, stands 9-1/2 inch tall and is in mint condition.
