Among ... morethe features on this great Old World Globe are depictions of all the signs of the Zodiac. This globe is not marked or identified as to origins. But appears to be of the type of globe that was made in Italy. The stand is a nice wood with turned columns and stands on four ball feet. It is in overall very good antique condition. With only slight scuffing to the edges of the wooden stand, which could be removed with a furniture polish. The globe itself, which is made to be lifted off of the stand, is covered with a heavy paper with a waxed surface, and is intact except for a couple of very slight creases where the seams meet, but fits tightly to the globe. Any flaws are strictly due to age, but this piece seems to have been well cared for. This globe would be a fantastic addition to a den, family room or library, and makes a great conversation piece! Measurements are about 12" tall. 10" wide at widest point of the wooden frame, and the globe itself measures about 6" across, and weighs just slightly over 1 lb. Thanks for looking! Posted with

The glob e itself is considered a 12 inch globe. The wood is a medium color closer to a dark than a light color. The globe itsel f is a beautiful antique white color and is outstanding when turned on. There is a brass name plaque on it but I am sure it can be removed or maybe a new one can be added with your name on it. It is one of the fines ones that I have seen. Colonial Williamsburg Hurricane Globe in Wooden Stand
I purchased this at an estate auction along with another globe and brass candlesticks that were in Williamsburg boxes-see our other listings for these items. So I'm guessing this is a Williamsburg piece also. Judge for yourself from the photos as I cannot find any markings on it. Huge and very thick glass that looks to be hand blown based on the swirling and dimples in the glass from manufacturing. Overall this is 21 3/4" tall with the globe being 20" by itself. It's insert tightly in the wooden(walnut? base and I'm not going to try and remove it for fear of breaking. Base is 8" diameter x 2 5/8" high and looks to be turned walnut with blue felt bottom(small spot of moth damage to felt shown in photo 9) Globe is approx 8" at widest middle area and 6 3/4" top diameter. Among the features on this great Old World Globe are depictions of all the signs of the Zodiac. This globe is not marked or identified as to origins. But appears to be of the type of globe that was made in Italy. The stand is a nice wood with turned columns and stands on four ball feet. It is in overall very good antique condition. With only slight scuffing to the edges of the wooden stand, which could be removed with a furniture polish. The globe itself, which is made to be lifted off of the stand, is covered with a heavy paper with a waxed surface, and is intact except for a couple of very slight creases where the seams meet, but fits tightly to the globe. This world globe features a map of the Old World and sits in a very attractive turned wooden stand with a zodiac ring encircling it. It has a lovely aged patina. And I'd say it would date from the 1950s to 60s. There is a Made in Japan sticker on the base. The globe is in excellent condition, with no marks or tears on the paper covering. I have for sale an original terrestrial globe by makers J Forest of 17 Rue de Buci Paris dating from the latter part of the 19th Century. It is in pretty good condition a couple of flaws as detailed above but this is a item which was meant to be used. So therefore some sign of use is to be expected. Marvelous Replogle 10" Library World Globe - Lighted glass in a wooden stand
Here is the very fine glass Replogle 10" Library world globe. Lighted and in the wooden stand that you see. Dating from about 1950. It is in remarkably good condition with solid gores over glass, with only the most minor dings to the surface, and just a few bits where the interior light comes through a seam. The dating is confirmed by the presence of Israel, Pakistan and East Pakistan, Indochina, Korea as a single country, and all of the colonial names of the African states. The globe features a complete, heavy brass meridian, a time dial at the north pole, and the oceans shown in pea green. These smaller desk globes appear only rarely on eBay, and when they do, they are rarely of this quality. The walnut stand is also excellent. Very solid with four turned legs and stretchers. The stand measures about 13" in diameter and. With ... morethe globe seated, about 14" H. It weighs about 7 lbs. unpacked. Impressive in any room with the lamp turned off.
