12 Antique Art Deco Carved Mahogany Wood Round Finial Architectural Wall Plaque
Bought from a estate sale of a condemned Victorian mansion in Los Angeles. California. I personally helped the estate rep. pull them off the wall. Lot of 25 antique Victorian/Art Deco hand carved SOLID mahogany wood wall plaques/finials. They look like they have a"glaze" finish. So it would be very easy to strip(if desired) and get down to the raw wood. THESE ARE GENUINE ANTIQUE PIECES and they are not"perfect" there are no chunks broken off or devastating damage, but they do have appropiate ware(scuffs and scratches) The wood itself is in great condition. Antique Architectural Item, Carved Wood Wall Light Bracket Sconce Arm in Gold
Antique Carved Wood Architectural Piece. Wall Sconce Up for your consideration is this nice antique wood wall sconce or light bracket/arm. Gold or gilt in color. Has a wall base with an arm extending from the base with a carved laurel detail, could have been an electrified piece at one time with a threaded metal tubing opening at the back and at the top of the extended piece, there is a small piece taken out of the base(see pic) and it has a crack at the inside of the arm close to the base that is cracked through but still intact although it is loose. Not sure if it is staying in place because of the metal tubing inside or it is has been pinned but I would reinforce it somehow if you use it to hold anything. The angel’s face is hand painted over white gesso. The angel’s wings are finished with gold over white gesso. The wood shelf measures 9 5/16” wide x 5” deep x 1/2" thick. The angel measures 6 13/16” wide x 3 1/4" deep x 5 1/8” high. The bracket is marked on the back with black initials. This item is in very good condition with minor signs of surface wear and tiny chips on the side of the wood shelf and on the angel’s face and wings. They're art for your art! I love the large size& ethnic look of these unusual sconce shelves. I don't know the exact age or origin of them, as they were purchased from a local estate sale. They definitely have a Mexican look to them in the style& designs of the carving. The finish& the wood, itself. The shelves are both primitive& ornate, with raised heavily carved leaf designs covering the front& sides. These would look great in any primitive. Santa Fe or artsy decor.
