Nice older pair of carved wood corbels. Brackets, or shelf holders or whatever. An unknown type of wood, but if I were guessing, I would say walnut, has that Eastlake look. Interesting pieces of carved wood. Almost 8" long, 2 7/8" wide, and 1 1/8" thick. Have holes in the back for pegs to hold this on whatever if came off of. Has no finish that I can tell. May have originally held a shelf on an old pump organ, dresser, or dining room piece, maybe even off an old mantle. Anyway, very nice. Antique Carved Wood corner Corbel architectural furniture salvage trim
This beautifully carved corner corbel probably came off of a piece of antique furniture or possibly out of an ornately decorated room. It could be repurposed and added to a piece of furniture. Added to a shelf or displayed in many other ways. It is essentially symmetrical except for the different style of flowers located near the base. The wood cylinder at the top looks like it was added just with glue and could probably be removed relatively easily. Here are two gorgeous examples of Victorian wood trim in beautiful condition. I am no expert on antiques or architectural salvage. But I did a little research and hope I am using the right terminology. These have been at my parents' home for years if not decades. I grew up in an old house in the 1960s and they may have intended to put them on it, but never did, so they've been safely inside all this time. It's time someone put them to use as shelf brackets, book ends, decorative trim or whatever you can dream up! They measure 14" x 12" and are about 1" wide. They are in very good solid condition with no rot or chips and beautifully jointed corners They even still have a couple of the original mounting nails stuck in them! AS shown in the photos, THIS PAIR IS 99.9% EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH NO MISSING PIECES! There are a few flakes of finish missing and sign of age in the finish. I have others like this also on auction on eBay. Same size, design,e tc. but the others have chips and pieces fallen off, where the glue has failed, but so far these 2 are still intact. The bottom is flat, with two pre-drilled holes for screws. The top is also flat, with one old screw already in place. Measures approximately 8" L x 3-3-8" W x 3" D. Used. Good condition. No damage or repairs, but it have the start of a few small splits to the wood, some remnants of old paint and old glue and one screw sticking out of the top. Auction is for a lot of 5 architectural salvage decorative plinth trim pieces that date back to the early 1900s. I think they are pine. Bull's eye pattern. Some have paint left on and 2 are unpainted or have been stripped. They are not new and a couple do have some damage. Some tape residue left on the red ones- see the photos.
