This pair would make a stunning support for a clock.And they are large enough to support a long ... moreshelf as a mantlepiece above your fireplace. Eack bracket measures 21 1/4" high.At the top of support they would be 13" deep,and the bottom"winged" foot support measures 7 1/2" deep. The brackets are a full 2 1/2" thick at the base and foot.Where the top of bracket would meet the shelf it is 13" and where that bracket would attatch to the wall it is 6" H X 2 1/2" in width. Please note the section which would attatch to wall is very slightly concave.but it does fit flush on the ends. I believe the wood is mahagony,but it could also be walnut. The original finish is in good order,with minimal scuffs and loss,but the finish is very darlk.and due to age and older patina has lost it's shine.Some wax may bring this up a bit,but you have a semi or low gloss finish as it is.The carving is very well done showing carved scrolled acanthus leaves. On the turned post you will note some shell type carving on the discs and a classical fluted central column. All wood id solid,no veneers,and structurally tight and sound without repairs or breaks. No loss to wood or carvings. I would date these brackets to the 1890's. Each bracket weighs 3 lbs. 9 oz. If you have the spot,these will make for a great display. They are sturdy enough to support anything you asl,as long as they are anchored to the wall. Thet will look great with a wood shelf,glass,or marble.it's your choice. 4 Antique Victorian Era Wood Corbels Farm House Shabby White Orig Square Nails We just got back from a wonderful vacation out to Wyoming and South Dakota. Stayed at a fabulous B&B in South Dakota- made even more heaven by the fact that they also had an antique store on the property. I shopped in several other locations in both states and brought home some great primitives. Advertising, pottery, and all in all interesting finds. Before I left, I went to a new farm auction, and an estate auction- so I have a BUNCH of new items this week- I’ll be posting every day, so be sure to check back! I love these wonderful corbels. There's so many things you can do with them- from using them on/in your house. To making them shelf brackets, to decorative accents. They are original late 1800s farmhouse corbels, and they are awesome. Made from solid ... morewood, it's a matching set of 4, all with layers and layers of old white paint- thick with it, and it's shabby worn, crackled and chipped of in many spots. I left the old square iron nails just as I found them- they are sticking out of the wood, so you have to be careful when you remove them. Each corbel measures 10 3/16" by 6 1/4" and the wood is a solid 1 3/4" thick. Each one weighs a little over 1 lb. All are in excellent solid and sturdy condition except one, that is missing the very tip of the end of its short side- see photo 12 where I'm showing you the chipped one on the right and a non-chipped one on the left. It's missing the very curly up piece on the top- it's shallow, so it's really hard to notice. When you look at the photos of all 4 corbels together- it's always the one on the far right- see how hard it is to notice? I'm sorry for the foggy pictures- it's so steamy here right now, my camer lens keeps fogging up! Please supersize and look at all- they are rustic in appearance due to their shabby chipp[y paint, and they all need a good cleaning- some have spots of a grey substance that feels like plaster to me- see

Here we have a Pair of Two Antique Victorian Gingerbread House Corbels 1890's American Architectural Ornamentation that are in a word. STRIKING. These are rare, stunning, hard to come by, and they are huge! Each one weighs approximately 27 pounds 10 inches a piece, and measure 40 1/4" tall x 23 1/4" wide x 6" side to side with a 9 1/2" height from the top of the finial down to the bottom edge as shown. These are going to need some TLC and repair. The wood is so old that one of the finials has fallen apart, which we have glued back together, and while the larger sections seem sturdy and strong, there are loose pieces and smaller areas that show water rot or decay, that a professional who takes loving are will surly be able to repair and restore, since these are mainly of very good construction. Here are two gorgeous examples of Victorian wood trim in beautiful condition. I am no expert on antiques or architectural salvage. But I did a little research and hope I am using the right terminology. These have been at my parents' home for years if not decades. I grew up in an old house in the 1960s and they may have intended to put them on it, but never did, so they've been safely inside all this time. It's time someone put them to use as shelf brackets, book ends, decorative trim or whatever you can dream up! They measure 14" x 12" and are about 1" wide.
