circa 1870 victorian GOTHIC architectural salvage These two brackets were salvaged from a large brick building in the Baltimore metro area- they sat under the window sill of a great gothic building. Decorative elements! They have a flat surface on the top- and could be used for shelf supports. I have had previous customers buy similar pieces for a mantle support. These have old. Crusty, dry and faded white paint! Great gothic detail on the incised design! THese measure 9" high x 6.75" wide on top& 4.75" wide on the bottom edge- they are 3.75" thick or deep! This set appears to be a single Corinthian column cap salvage piece that has been cut in half and meticulously stripped& refinished with a wax coat. Both halves exhibit exceptional hand carved classical details in an unknown beautifully grained& heavy solid wood. The backsides of each have had 2 notched hanging brackets added allowing these very stylish pieces to be displayed on the wall as corbel sconces. Exact age is unknown. DIMENSIONS… Both are approximately 13 1/4” tall. The caps are 12 3/4” at there widest points and they are 6 1/4” at their deepest& just shy of 5 1/4” at their narrowest. CONDITION… Both are in excellent ... morerustic condition and are free from damage. These are natural wood hand crafted& carved pieces. As a result they do exhibit VERY slight variations in color. Lot of 2 Vintage Lion's Head Shelf Bracket Supports Corbels
These two plaster lion's heads purportedly came from the old Aragon Ballroom in Chicago during the 20's and 30's but take that bit of trivia with a grain of salt as that is what we were told by the seller. My wife and I have had them since 1963 and they were old when we acquired them at an auction outside of Chicago. We used them as decorations for many years but they no longer suit our decorating style. They are being sold as a pair. They measure 14" tall. 6" wide and 8" deep. They are made of plaster and have brackets molded into them through which I installed bolts to support them. They weigh a bit over 8 lbs each. One has some damage at the top where it supports the shelf but I think that is easily repairable.

Fabulous Solid Brass Wall Shelf Bracket CORBEL w Gallery Trim Hollywood Regency
Fabulous shiny brass wall shelf. This vintage find is one of the nicer corbels I've seen in a while. It features a brass gallery around the top which gives it almost a nautical feel. The pedestal portion has curved facets vertically ending in an acanthus leaf shaped bottom. It is solid brass and appears to be solid cast. This wall bracket is 10.5" from the bottom to the top of the shelf. The brass gallery at the top adds about another.5" It is about 9.25" wide at the top and about 1 and 3/8" wide at the bottom. The shelf protrudes 4.5" from the wall. There are two keyholes on the back for hanging. This wall shelf is quite heavy. At about 3.25 pounds. It is in really nice vintage condition. There are a few scuffs and minor scratches and could be polished if you chose to do this. We do not polish the items we find, ... morepreferring to leave the choice of vintage feel or newly polished to you. This wall bracket would look fantastic in the Hollywood Regency decor. The traditional English decor, in French country or provincial, in a toile bedroom or bath, in a man's study, in a woman's office, etc. It's incredibly versatile. Awesome! beautiful old corbels. These were very carefully taken off the house a couple months ago and are in really great condition for the age. Even the bullet nosed rafter tops are present. WHICH COULD BE REMOVED FOR SHELF BRACKET APPLICATIONS. The paint is not excessively flaking or pealing but is adhering still. Loads of character and charm. Pieces are solid and not in a decaying or crumbly state. There are only two with a minor chunk or splinter as pictured in the front on the one laying down. All are matching off the same house etc. but each corbel is different and unique with typical wear that would be naturally indigenous to this period ... moreand stature. We would like to sell them in pairs and can give 1st choice to buyers until all are gone; or we could sell all to one buyer and change the listing to accommodate. We have three diverse coat racks with pictures or mirrors in the center opening made from these piano fronts and antique hooks in the family. The last picture shows one of them we made hanging in the house. Large front piano section is 58" wide x 19 1/2" tall. Vintage LARGE Heavily Hand Carved Wood Mexican Santa Fe Wall Shelf Bracket Sconce Pair New to eBay. Here's a pair of large beautiful vintage hand carved wall shelves to display your treasures. They're art for your art! I love the large size& ethnic look of these unusual sconce shelves. I don't know the exact age or origin of them, as they were purchased from a local estate sale. They definitely have a Mexican look to them in the style& designs of the carving. The finish& the wood, itself. The shelves are both primitive& ornate, with raised heavily carved leaf designs covering the front& sides. These would look great in any primitive. Santa Fe or artsy decor. I've shown them with a few of my own Native American collectibles, just to give you an idea of what they look like as display pieces. The added objects ... morein the photos are not included. I love how each sconce is large enough to hold a grouping of objects. The wood is fairly heavy, each shelf weighing over 3 pounds. The shelves both have a distressed, wood burned finish. Both have some subtle age wear. But both display very nicely. One appears to have a couple of spots of wood filler on the front(which blends in with the dark burned areas. The other has a couple of chips along one back edge. The shelves are large& fairly heavy, each weighing over 3 pounds. The size is 16" tall by 14" wide across the top and 5" deep. Authentic. Matching pair of 19th century corbels. Mostly quarter sawn oak construction. Tons of possibilities, including classy architectural bookends. Nice contoured design with fluted edges. Magnificent, giant, urn finials on top sitting on beveled bases. These are two sided, with round fan medallions on all 4 sides. Each one measures almost 12 inches tall by about 7 inches. 2 1/4 inches thick. One small mounting hole below one medallion, otherwise good overall condition.
