Ant. Corbel W/Old Pink Paint 1902 Farm Home Neb. Coat Hook W /Black Marble
This is an antique corbel from a 1902 farmhouse in Nebraska. They were tearing down the house. How sad. Anyway took the corbels and made hooks with them. I sealed and preserved the paint, cut a keyhole hanger in back and used a cutter and put a round hole for a black Akro Agate marble in center. These also have the holes from the old square nails. A piece of American History being preserved. Wood measures 5 1/2" square x 1 3/4" thick.

This exceptionally nice middle to late 1800s hand carved marble element measures 8 1/8” tall x 6” wide x 2” thick and assumes the form of a gothic heraldic shield with banded fields and diamonds centered by a finely carved lion’s mask. Both the top and back are drilled for mounting and the top has a leter copper hanging loop leaded in place. It is dirty with minor edge nicks and no cracks. Early Florence School Italian Marble Corbel With Bronze Relief Of Cherubs Signed
For sale is a unique object of which we do not know much about. This piece came out of an old upstate New York home. It appears to be an Italian carved marble corbel of some sort with an applied bronze sculpture relief of cherubs frolicking around with a goat and drinking milk. We believe this piece to be 19th century. The Italian marble is handcarved with intricate pattern work on the mantle section. On the front is an applied bronze sculpture with a beautiful aged patina. this bronze sculpture is a work of art in and of itself. Beautifully rendered and cast with great attention to detail. On the bronze relief sculpture there is Greek wording. We have not translated the Greek lettering other than the word BIOS on the very end. This work of art is hand signed in the marble on the back. We cannot make out the name other than"PROF" ... morea name. And then the word FIRENZE which we believe is the Italian world for Florence Italy. Therefore the attribute this piece to the Florence school. Is aged quite well and we believe was made as a work of art. It is quite heavy weighing roughly 35 pounds. It measures. 8 3/4" high x 8" wide x 6 1/2" thick. The top measures 11 1/2" long x 5" wide. Antique 19th century beautifully-carved matched marble corbels
This is a striking and beautifully-carved. Matched-design pair of marble corbels that date to the 19th century. My guess is that they are of Italian origin but I do not know for certain- most of the best carved marble came from Italy at that time. These could have been used on a fireplace, or as some decorative element inside a wealthy home or mansion. Both carry an identical floral design with a rose in the center. While the designs match and I feel comfortable calling them a pair, there are very slight differences in the sizes. Both are 10&1/4" high. One is 7&1/4" across the base in the back, while the other is 7&3/4. One is 3&3/4" deep at the center of the scroll on the bottom, while the other is 3&1/2. They were obviously carved as a pair and so I cannot tell you why there is such a slight difference. ... moreLooking at them, you would never see any difference whatsoever. Each weighs about 17 pounds. Condition is as found and as shown. There are a few rough edges on the rosebuds, possibly just natural wear, but nothing of consequence as to the overall look. On the bottom center of each, there is an area where they were attached- there is some marble roughly cut out there but that was probably done deliberately in order to secure them to a wall.
