This is an awesome. Majestic pair of corbels! I was sure at first glance they were carved wood, but upon close inspection, I noticed a resin type material under a chip. There are several small chips, but they can be touched up. The hardware is intact, and they are quite heavy. They have what looks like a feather design, along with leaves. This pair of matching curved triangular shaped corbels is deeply carved with an intricate band of leaf fronds Each stands 6 3/4" H x 2 1/2" W x 6 1/4" D Along with the age-related dry patina in some areas. There are 3 wee surface nicks along the leaf-band edge of one corbel ~and~ one along the narrow bottom edge of the other ~ They're old authentic beauties ready for a creative restoration make-over! They are hand carved solid wood in the classic acanthus leaf design. The wood appears to be pine. It is an even grain. At one time they were painted. Still some small flecks of paint in recessed areas. You can tell by the patina on the back these are very old. They are held with square head naild. Really a beautiful pair that would a good cleaning and staining would bring them back to life. Dimensions: Measures 16" long X 5.5" wide X 4.75" at the top curl. Condition: Good solid conditiion with some residual paint in the recessed areas. There are a few areas of wood loss on the side. I am pointing ... moreto them with a pen. Great SET of FOUR Victorian black forest walnut wooden carved corbels with swirl and leaf design. As found. As you can see in the photos, there are some chips and missing pieces of carving. Selling this set with no reserve, can easily be restored or used like this. 2 3/4 inches wide and 4 1/2 inches tall. 2 1/2 inches deep at top. These are so old that the glue is so dried that pieces sometimes just fall off randomly. I will wrap these very well. Pair Antique Carved Wood Acanthus Leaf Corbels Old Vintage Gingerbread 4287-15
Nice matched pair decorative antique carved wood corbels. They both have thick crusty old black and white paint. One has a small chip in the wood at the bottom tip and it is missing a small detail piece on the side. The other is undamaged. They would make great shelf brackets or they could be used as shelves independently. Overall good solid useable condition. Please look over the pictures and ask questions when needed.
