FOUR HUGE SOLID BRAZILIAN ROSEWOOD CORBELS SHELF BRACKETS MID CENTURY DANISH
These are really great pieces. They are hand carved solid Brazilian rosewood and are from the early 1900s. Some misguided person painted them white at some point and they have been partially stripped but need finishing. They are fifteen inches long by a inch and five eights thick. The flat base is four inches and the wool is solid. The wood in these is amazing, it has lots of figure and a beautiful color, in the pictures two appear darker because they have a light oil on them but when they are cleaned up they will all be the same color. Solid old growth Brazilian(especially this old) is very hard to come by these days and these are just beautiful pieces.

These epic. Architectural salvage corbels with drop finals were original to a gorgeous house on South Main St. in New Milford, CT, and were given to me by the owner about 20 years ago. They are in awesome shape; clean, no rot, solid, dry, only a few layers of original distressed white paint, so details of carving are well highlighted. Corbels measure approx. 15"x15"x4" and are about 22+" on the diagonal. I used them for a number of years as brackets supporting a large. Heavy rectangular piece of glass, which made for a unique vanity/shelf over a fab silver radiator. These two corbels up for sale this week are from the east coast and ended up in a suburb of Chicago. Hinsdale which is a quite prestigious area. I was told they were going to be used in a"painted lady" but the deal fell apart, and these folks needed no more corbels. They are huge measuring 28 by 19 and show great weathering. This is an amazing and rare antique architectural corbel with it's awesome chippy white patina. It is from an old church that was built in the mid 1800's. I just love the cross detail on each side of the corbel! Huge in size measuring a whopping 36 1/2" long by 4" thick by 11 1/4" deep. In good vintage condition. These are very OLD and large! These corbels will be a statement piece in any room of your home! Each one could be its own shelf or would be stunning as support brackets for a fireplace. Shelving, etc. The architexture from the turn of the century is slowly being destroyed house by house. These corbels are a great way to show how homes were built by craftsman. Dimensions are.drumroll.21 inches tall x 12 inches deep x 6 inches wide. They weigh a staggering 10 1/2 pounds each! These are truly one of a kind and when they are gone.they are gone. Aren't these great? I love to use vintage architectural pieces whether it's here on our alpaca farm ... moreor in the city. They are great conversation pieces and offer a myriad of uses! These are solid wood and I do not have the knowledge of what type of building they have come from. Corbels in our area are on homes that were built before the 1900s but they could be from the 20s or 30s as well. Uses that I have seen are a decorative piece that was used as a support bracket for the front porch but they were widely used in other aspects of decor as well. Usually they weren't weight bearing. I don't know why I just gave you a bit of history but there you go: Back to the corbels or support brackets.These are not handcarved one piece corbels but instead they were designed as seperate pieces and then nailed together. The tall side 11.5 inches. The sides are 10 inches and they are almost 4 inches in width. I love the character of the paint but it is chipping and has loads of patina because this was an outdoor item. I would suggest spraying it with a clearcoat if you would like to preserve the finish. There are lots of dings and dents but are truly a beautiful piece for bookends. Underneath a fireplace mantle, bar support, etc. Some small pieces of wood trim are missing
