many more tiles to come. up for sale. a group of 6 matching original victorian treacle glaze tiles-there is 6.Just not in the picture. no manufacture mark to back 6 inch by 3 they all have some crazing and some light surface scratches overall-they are over a hundred years old removed from a fireplace all have traces of paint on.And soot-they will need a proper clean but will clean up to a high standard one has a light10 mm scratch and two of the corners have a miniscule rub to them-hard to spot. one has a tiny flake off an edge and some very small rubbing to two corners two are excellent with only minor edge rubbing one has a 5mm bite off a corner the last one has a 5 mm flake off the edge and bruise to the glaze in a corner

An excellent pair of tile with a pair of winged beasts either side of a decorated urn. Moulded in a durable semi-vitrified buff clay body and decorated with three glazes. Two different versos. I am inclined to suggest Maw and if any other another of the western companies from Hereford or perhaps Ruabon. Condition is fair. Three noticable corner chips, numerous very tiny rim and surface chips, wear and rubbing, a hairline, very tight and no concern with the durability of the clay of these tiles. The damage not so much to be significantly off putting especially if viewed in the light of the antiquity ... moreof the style. Six (6) Vintage HR Johnson Round Tiles Trivets England - 3.5" - Fair/Good H & R
Please read through for condition issues– they aren’t perfect. Six(6) Vintage H&R Johnson Round Tile Trivets. The each measure approx. 3 ½” in diameter. There are three(3) of each style. The base color is white. And they are decorated orange and green. They are all marked. CONDITION: They appear to have been previously mounted. There is either an adhesive or varnish/shellac residue on the back of each piece which has browned(or started off brown) Green border tiles: o 1) has a small chip on the bottom edge which is slightly visible from a side view. It also has a very small flea bite nick on the bottom edge which is hardly visible(see pics) o 2) has a chip which is visible from a side view. I also felt one small flea bite nick(see pics) from this flea bite there is a hairline crack which has caused some chip loss to the painted area ... moreon the top(see pic) If this were a single tile I wouldn’t list it. But since it is a part of matched set, you may want it regardless. When looking at the main picture. It’s in the bottom left tile(about 5 o’clock) o 3) no found chips. Nicks or flea bites. Orange border tiles: o 1) has a small chip which is slightly visible from the side. I also found two flea bite nicks(see pic) o 2& 3) no found chips. Nicks or flea bites. I have made no attempts to chemically remove the residue on the back. They were only hand washed in warm. Sudsy water and not soaked. I did not want to jeopardize their integrity. Blue and white pattern, off white background, measure 150mm square and are 9mm thick(6" x 3/8" The backs are machine marked and are stamped with the capital' H' This probably means they are no older than circa 1890/1900. All are complete i.e no corners missing etc. There are small amounts of grout to some of the edges which depending on future use will need to cleaned and some very small chips to some of the edges. English Victorian 6" Transfer Printed Tile, Calla Lily, Bamboo, Aesthetic Period
This is a very striking transfer printed and hand colored 6 inch ceramic tile. Presumably from the Victorian period. I can't figure out the English registry mark on the back, so I'm not sure of its age. It features a central image of calla lillies surrounded by a bamboo framework with other flowers and leaves around the edges. It is about three eighths of an inch thick. The tile is in good condition for its age. There are some fine scratches across the center as shown in the photos. Please contact me with any questions you might have.

DEEP caramel glaze.Virtually black in the deep recesses, with contrasting light caramel on the high relief acanthus leaves. A few scattered nicks tosome high points of the flower petals,but the tile shows very well and these go mostly unnoticed.
