We found this amazing piece of ornamental ... morearchitecture at a recent estate sale! The age is unknown but its believed to date to the late 1800s. Exactly what it is we do not know- a corbel? a ship's decorative support? temple ornamentation? Unfortunately. It's history was unavailable and our attempts to research the piece have produced nothing. We do know it's Chinese- made of wood and hand carved with incredible detail! Hopefully someone looking knows what it is- or(like ourselves) just finds it an intriguing conversation piece! It does have a relatively substantial amount of wear and tear to the wood from age and exposure to elements- the pictures provided show the actual condition- there are multiple cracks. Chips, erosion and discoloration of the wood, and what may be insect damage. The decorative carvings are fragile with some pieces having chipped away over the years but overall it is still an amazing piece of art that with some TLC could make for a wonderful addition to any collection or perhaps can be repurposed for more practical use! It measures ~ 14 1/2" in length. ~ 5 5/8" wide, and stands ~ 7 7/8" tall. Not only is this a large piece- it is also a heavy piece so shipping costs should be taken into consideration when bidding! Vintage Architectural Sage Green Wooden Corbel Wall Hanging
A beautiful architectural carved wooden sage green wall hanging corbel. Its base is a common two tier type. While the main show piece is carved with 6 rounded lines surrounded by 3 rectangular lines leading to the bottom which comes out to form a curve. There are two pieces missing at the top where a more intricate trim probably sat at one time. The top is bare revealing the true color of the wood. There are many chips and cracks in the paint, 3 missing chunks of wood, and some small cracks in the wood suggesting the this piece has been through quite a bit over time, making it a perfect decorative piece. The back is equiped with a wall hanging made of wire attatched to a sawtooth wall hanger. You could use this as a shelf as well because the top is even. The back measures 8 3/4" high x 8 1/4" wide. There is a 3/4 inch slot along the top of each, a notch cut out of the same top corner of both. There is some age wear, but no splits or damage, no veneer and no paint. This is a neat pair of large old architectural wood pieces. They feature great shapes with nice old white chippy paint. The 2 sides are approx 14 1/4" and 11 1/4" They are approx 4" wide including the trim edge. They are in salvaged condition as shown. Never a reserve so have fun! 2 Antique Architectural Salvage Wooden Porch Brackets Corbels for Porch Posts
For sale in this auction is a pair of porch brackets or porch corbels for decoration next to a porch post. These are off of a 100 year old house porch that was being torn down. They are made out of wood and most of the paint is gone. They measure approximately 14 inches long on the longest side and 12 inches long on the other side. They are approximately 3 1/4 inches wide on the back side. The tallest part of the decoration measures approximately five and half inches tall. They do have wear. Some cracking, lots of cobwebs and one corner has damage more than the rest. I tried to show that in the pictures. These two corbels up for sale this week are from the east coast and ended up in a suburb of Chicago. Hinsdale which is a quite prestigious area. I was told they were going to be used in a"painted lady" but the deal fell apart, and these folks needed no more corbels. They are huge measuring 28 by 19 and show great weathering. They do not have any missing chunks but show wear as they are well over 100 years old. I am selling these together and will not split them up. They are a great pair. RARE ANTIQUE pair of wooden corbels. SALE IS FOR 2 ONLY. These are huge and date back to early 1800's. These are very hard to find and are one of a kind this day and age. The color is white and has a lot of chippy paint. Taken right from a house that was going to be torn down and purchased them before they were going to be buried. They are very large and sturdy. I have not cleaned them or repainted. They just need a bath and ready to go. Great to put a piece of glass on top and make a table or use in a house. Other uses as well. The purchase is for 2 of them. They are very heavy and solid wood. Back side that was attached to the home is not painted. ANTIQUE ARCHITECTURAL WOODEN CORBELS - NICE LOOK
Here are(2) antique architectural wooden corbels. They have intricate carved details and a very nice older patina(please see photos) They measure 20" high/ 7" to 11-1/2" deep/ 2' to 2-3/4" wide. They are missing(5) round medallion pieces. You can see where they were. By the lighter areas on the photos. These could be blended into the surrounding areas or left as is. Gorgeous Pair Pierced Carved Wooden Corner Spandrel Architectural Ornaments
Each section of this pair is 12.5" x 9.75" x 1" When positioned as a spandrel it is 25" long. This item came from a furniture and design company that went out of business in the 1990's. Some pieces were removed from furniture that was in disrepair other pieces were left over stock from architectural design projects. This item can be combined with others to save on shipping.
