This tile has a large central printed design depicting roses in a circle they have been hand finished in red/ pink& yellow and the leaves in green. The print is in a brown colour and there are nice quarter circles. Highlighted in yellow, decorating the 4 corners with abstract patterns. The surface of the tile has a nice glossy finish. Stunning Antique Victorian Art Nouveau Tile. H A Ollivant, Last One! Hello! This stylish Art Nouveau tile by H A Ollivant dates from between 1900 and 1908. The tile measures 6" x 6" and is in very good condition with no glaze crazing and just a nibble on the top left corner which is mentioned only for absolute accuracy of description and can be seen in photos 1 and 2. I believe it spent most of it's life in a decorative frame like the back of a washstand hence it's superb condition. There are other antique tiles on offer on this site. G lazed tiles with transfer print floral design. Good glaze. Probably late Victorian The t ile is 6 inches by 6 inches Th is is reclaimed and h as small imperfections as a consequence of being a totally authentic pre-used antique/vintage piece. There is a small amount of residual grout on the reverse. There are extremely small chips to the rim. Probably imper cept i ble once refitted. I shall ship with My Hermes. Antique Victorian English Blue & White Floral Printed Tulip Tile Lea & Boulton
Up for auction is a pretty Victorian floral printed tile by Lea& Boulton. This tile is printed with a lovely design featuring tulips and associated foliage surrounded by a scrolled border decorated with part leaves& other designs. The pattern on the tile is printed in a steel blue colour(greyish blue) On an off-white background. The surface of the tile has a nice glossy finish. The tile measures 6 inches square. This tile is in good condition. The four corners have all been neatly shaped probably to fit the tile into its original setting. This has been done professionally probably at the time of manufacture and in any event prior to the tile being decorated. As the glaze continues over the shaped edges. The edges and corners are generally in nice condition. There is a very small shallow chip to the bottom left corner. Very tiny& ... moreshallow chip/ nic to bottom edge near left corner. Tiny bits of grazing to top edge near left corner and left edge about an inch up from bottom corner- but all extremely minimal and restricted to the very outer edges. There is a little blurring/ smudging to the print affecting a tiny area in the top left corner area. And a few specks of blue and other colours in the white areas, as well as a few very tiny indents and raised areas to the surface- all manufacturing flaws common with tiles from this period. The tile has overall crazing which is pale in colour& a little scratching to the surface commensurate with age and use. Please enlarge photos to see tile in more detail. Victorian Antique Ceramic Tile Large IRIS 1902 - 1909 Made in England Richards
Here is a white tile with brown art work from the Victorian Era(the close up photo is closest to the actual color) It has a large picture of an Iris and its buds and leaves. It is a 6" by 6" tile. Marked England on the back. There are also numbers on the back: 5050(in red) 0, and 91. There is a piece of paper taped on the back that gives this information: H. Richards 1902- 09. The dates 1902- 09 is also written in pencil on the back. The on damage that I can see is a chip on a petal of one of the side flowers. It is the one on the right as you look at the picture. Again, please look at the close up photo to see it. It blends in on the larger pictures, but it is there. Please look carefully at the photos for the best idea of condition and design. This would look so pretty framed or as a place to set hot pans. Truly elegant! This ... morewill not be sent in an envelope. This tile weighs almost 13 ounces(unpacked) I have been asked about the high shipping fee for expedited shipping and I know as a buyer. I get shocked by those prices, too. eBay is now"encouraging" sellers to put expedited shipping as a first choice. I try to have First Class as a second choice so it seems more manageable. I put a figure for weight to cover a range of weights because the boxes weigh so much and I might find a sturdier yet stronger box in which to pack the item after I list it, so my prices can't be absolute. I do refund anything over fifty cents and I've being doing that using the less expensive online prices(quotes given to you by eBay were not online prices) I'm not sure everyone does it that way. Victorian art tile made by the Columbia Encaustic Tile Co. of Anderson.Indiana.Marked on the back. This tile measures 4-1/4" x 4-1/4" x 1/2" thick. Central flower with botanicals in a mint green and ochre glaze. Columbia tiles do not come up for sale very often and the"encaustic" part of their name may mean that that is what they primarily produced-unglazed encaustic tiles.This tile has a"hole" at the bottom right. It was a very dark spot that I ran underwater and it slowly dissolved and left this mark. No doubt a piece of organic material that made it's way onto the surface of the tileduring production and burned into the tile. A few other chips on the right side as seen in photos as well as a few edge indents that are factory done and glazed over. A scarce tile nonetheless! Tiles have not relief and have surface printed designs with naturalistic. Geometric images on them, colors are firm and well defined. These tiles are very suitable for a charming home interior decor, casual, romantic feel. English country style emphasizes coziness and our relationship with nature. These are the tiles to choose if you want an air of both distinction but also as fresh as a country cottage done in garden florals. ITEM DESCRIPTION Very attractive tile. Drawn in sepia transfer printed, subtile flowers and thorny tails, a perfect abstraction of a victorian garden. STYLE: Aesthetic(Late Victorian) TECHNIQUE: Manufacture: Dust pressed clay tile using a mould& horsehead ... morepress. Then burned. Decoration: surface printed designs. ORIGIN: England Either George Woolliscroft& Son or T&R Boote. MARKS: Each tile has a characteristic factory background some factories used stamped logos on reverse. DIMENSIONS: 6x6 inches each tile. Thickness of biscuit depends but usually is 0.33 inches aprox. APPROXIMATE DATE: Between 1890 to 1910 ITEM CONDITION This tile is in very fine condition. No flaws or repairs exist. Cement on reverse was carefully removed so minimal traces are remaining. Surface, as you can see, has a firm color and smooth glaze surface. Only minimal scratches and tiny chips may be seen, most of them on edges but that is hidden with grouting when reinstalling. Nothing for a more than 100 year old architectural piece. If you are buying many of them and you want a picture to have a look of the general condition no problem to supply. But image shown is well representative of tiles you will get. Interesting Antique Victorian Aesthetic Movement Brown & White Floral Print Tile
Up for auction is an attractive Victorian Aesthetic Movement floral printed brown& white tile. This tile is interesting in that it is an identified Mintons design. However it bears the maker's mark for Lea& Boulton. It is possible that both firm's produced the same design or that Mintons have used blank Lea& Boulton tiles to print their design on. This tile is printed with a lovely design in dark brown depicting a central diamond decorated with an urn filled with swirling flowers and foliage. The remaining tile surface is filled with swirls of flowers and stems against a speckled background surrounded by a simple white border and an external brown border. Antique Victorian English Floral Tile Sherwin & Cotton - unusual glaze Lustre ?
Up for auction is a striking Victorian tile. Made by Sherwin& Cotton. The tile has a bold floral pattern across the whole tile surface in a reddish brown colour on a dark background which has a purple colouration but in sections looks almost black. This darker glaze is inconsistent across the tile appearing more purple in nature towards the tile edges. There is a lustrous quality to the glaze when it catches the light. A wonderful victorian fireplace tile. Earthenware clay hand painted and glazed fireplace tile. 6" square x 1/2" thick. A pair of darling sweet little birds sitting on the branches of a vine. Colours of burnt sienna and ginger. 2 fine lines of burnt sienna border the tile. ANTIQUE VICTORIAN PROVIDENTIAL TILE FIREPLACE SURROUND portrait tiles
The sale is for this gorgeous antique tile surround that was made by the New Jersey Providential Tile company in the late 1800's. The picture is a shortened version of the surround. There are quite a few more of the mottled tiles. It is in good condition and is comprised of the 2 corner portrait tiles and the rest are 6x1.5 inch and 3 x 1.5 inch tiles. Very few or none of the mottled tiles should need to be cut for the surround. There is some residual mortar and the portrait tiles have a few edge abrasions(please see closeup pictures) The most common surround would be 30" high and across. If you need more tiles for your fireplace surround I can flesh out this design with the mottled tiles. I have many antique tiles listed.

The set of 8 tiles are in a good condition for there age but do have age crazing. Some have nicks to the edge& some have surface scratches. All have the MAW& Co Floreat Salopia sun rise impressed mark on the back dating them to c1882-1885. Each tiles measures approx 4.25 x 4.25 inches(10.5 x 10.5cms) together weigh approx 1.6kg unpacked. Antique victorian large single ceramic tile.With the scene of a gentleman sitting in a woodland steamed scene wearing a hunting jaclket seated holding a shot gun,the tile has been framed in a piece of wood at some time which has been painted black with a hole in the top for hanging,the tile does show some small chips and some hairlines to the glaze. PLEASE study the photos provided as they describe the tile far better than i can. It weighs 1.5 kilos. The tile measures 30 X 5.2 cms excluding the wooden mount.
