Old 14" X 2 1/4" wood porch rail spindles (late 1880s/early 1890s)
This listing is for one old wood porch rail spindle that is 14 inches high by 2 1/4 inches square at top and base. One end of the spindle does have a"v" shaped notch in it where it fit into the railing. This spindle is an architectural salvage that is over 100 years old. Actual railing came off a late 1880's or early 1890's building. It is NOT new and contains blemishes. Scratches, dings& other character flaws. White paint is weathered. Cracked, and discolored in some areas. It has been out in the elements for many years and is not in PERFECT condition. However. There are no soft spots or rot. It is sold in as-is condition. 4 ANTIQUE Wooden PORCH SPINDLES Beautiful OLD WHITE PAINT Victorian Columns
Offered as a single lot are four matching 19th century antique wooden architectural columns dating ca. 1890. These turned and painted wooden porch spandrel spindles. Or balusters, were salvaged during the renovation of a Victorian era carriage house in Saratoga Springs, NY. Each antique spindle measures approx. 19.75 inches tall, with base and top measurements of approx. 2.5 inches square. The baluster spindles have a wonderful surface! They still retain most of their old, crackled, chippy white paint. The spindles stand on their own, if you wish to use them as mantel garnitures to flank an antique mirror or portrait. They would also work well if mounted together for a lamp base, or used as table legs. Condition is good. There is some light soiling and paint loss, as shown, minor dings and dents; nothing major. Lot of 11 turned Victorian porch balusters! approximately 1 ⅝” square and 20 ⅝” tall Up for bid is a lot of 11 antique Victorian porch balusters/spindles. These balusters are of matching design. The unturned top section is 2⅞” long. While the unturned bottom end is 3¾” long. Each wooden baluster has old chipping white paint. Note that these are architectural salvage items from a house in Beaver. PA and are around 110 years old. Because of this. They have flaws, dings, etc. that give them character. The bottom about 1 inch is often damaged from the nail holes(a few nail fragments remain) With scattered wood loss in that area. The top ends have nail holes. But with less evident damage. In addition. A very few have small chunks of other wood missing. The other pieces are cut at a slant on each end and measure 21 3/4" at the point and 21 1/2" on the slant side x 1 3/4" square. But there are some traces of the old brown paint left. 3 of the balusters are in good condition, but 3 have some wood slivers chipped off on one side where they split from taking them off of the railing when the nails pulled out. Never been installed spindles that were stock in a long closed hardware store, they are bare wood, looks like pine. these are dusty, having been stored away in a barn loft for the last 100 years. see photos. I have 15 all the same old porch spindles. They measure 21 3/4" in height. Chippy green paint and in pretty good condition. There are still some nails in them. Could be used for restoration purposes but also people use them for craft projects. Any questions please ask and thank you for looking.

SET OF 22 VICTORIAN GINGERBREAD PORCH SPINDLES (14" LONG) PAINTED
These spindles were turned on a wood lathe and measure approx. 14 inches long and are 1 1/2" diameter at the ends.Each spindle was used alternately in a upright/downright position so please study the picture to understand the are 2 types of profiles.I believe there are 10 of one type and 12 of the other.Chipping weathered paint.Some cracks in the wood etc as these spindles are circa about 1880.They will be shipped in a cardboard box that is well taped via USPS ground.I will only ship to the U.S. mainland excluding Hawaii,Alaska and Puerto Rico.
