Offered is a vintage king size headboard that will mesh in the finest settings. This is a high end old piece with solid wood which I believe to be walnut and wicker woven back. The wood working is stunning with cut out back. Very solid and very unique with curved asian style corners that curve. Please view photos for detail as well as condition. Outstanding mid century modern Robsjohn-Gibbings/ Widdicomb king headboard in cherry. Circa 1945-1955 I believe the wood is cherry and the headboard is in extremely nice original condition. There are no nicks in the veneer and only slight wear to the lacquer finish. The bed is signed with the John Widdicomb metal tag on the back bottom rail. T H Robsjohn-Gibbings worked as a designer for Widdicomb in Grand Rapids. Michigan from 1943–56. The period during which this headboard was made and it is likely his design. For your consideration is a King Size Bedroom suite from the Janus Collection for Mount Airy Furniture. The Janus collection was designed by John Stuart in the 50’s. This set includes: Long Dresser 2 Night Stands King Size Headboard The set is manufactured in beautiful walnut with gorgeous diamond inlays on the dresser and headboard. Condition This will need some cleaning up. It appears that this was used in a child’s bedroom and there were crayons inside some drawers. This isn’t that big of a deal. A magic eraser could take care of that easily. There is wear here and there. But no large gouges or nicks that I can tell. If I were refinishing this for myself. I would honestly just use Howard’s Restore-A-Finish as there are no major issues. Dresser The dresser has substantial storage with 2 diamond inlaid doors opening to reveal eight drawers ... moreflanking six center drawers. The storage is truly amazing! There are also diamond inlay patterns on each side of the bed. There is a little wear on the left top side of the headboard. But nothing a little restore-a-finish couldn’t fix. Item Description: A beautiful and hard to find Danish Modern Teak Standard/Eastern King size(76" x 80" platform bed with attached floating nightstands in good original condition. The sleek and great looking bed was made in Denmark and is designed for an Eastern King Mattress which rests directly on the slats(no box spring required) The bed is very sturdy when assembled and breaks down flat for safer shipping and transportation. Each side has a floating nightstand with a drawer and lower open cubby for magazines etc. Overall the bed shows very nicely with only ... moreminor wear(some dark marks on the left side rails. Minor veneer chips on the lower part near the footboard- see pictures 7 and 8) which are not very notable but should be mentioned. The nightstands show nicely, I believe the tops were refinished at some point. There is some minor wear on the left side of one nightstand at the edge which in not very notable but should be mentioned(see image 6) The headboard is 2 pieces that clip together to the center upright piece. When the previous owner took the bed apart they slightly damaged the inside wood of the headboard where the screws that clip the headboard together go in- This is only visible when the headboard is taken apart and is very sturdy when assembled. There is a slightly raised bump from this on the lower part of the headboard from this repair(see pictures 9 and 10) however it is below the slats so it is never visible, especially with the mattress is place. This repair does not compromise the structural integrity of the bed. When assembled the bed measures 28.75" tall by 121.25" wide.
