French twin bed with upholstered headboard
This is a beautiful french bed with a tufted headboard. I believe it is made of cherry but not certain. I have not seen a rail system like this before. It consists of a long steel rod with a hook on one end and threaded on the other. The hook is inserted into the footboard. The rod rests in a groove along the length of the rail, and the threaded end runs through the headboard. The large"nut" with a swivel handle then threads on to the rod. Each end of the rail has two dowels which support and align the rails. This system makes for a very solid bed. The bed is in quite good vintage condition with minor dings and rubs. Beautiful Antique Spindle Twin Bed Here is a beautiful. Antique, wood bedframe. Included in this set is a headboard, footboard, both sideboards, as well as all of the support pieces. This is a classic, antique dovetail fitted bed. It is an extremely well made and solid bed. Not only are all of the pieces include for this bed to be used, it also has an extra fitting, as seen in the pictures, just in case one breaks off. This bed is a classic Jennny Lind style spindle bed. It is not marked anywhere so I cannot verify the maker of age of the piece, but it is definitely older due to the make of the bed and the obvious age of the fitting pieces on the end. A beautiful bed frame. They sure don't make them like this anymore. This frame is in great shape for the age. It does have the expected scratches and rub marks due to aging. This is a very nice piece and in very good survivor condition with the original paint and a raised vase and a flower design on it. The vase and some of the flowers you can actually feel and see come out of the wood. As if they were carved out of the wood. This piece was designed by Ralph Widdicomb and was crafted by the John-Widdicomb Co. and in Grand Rapids, in between the years of 1942-1956.
