The drawers. Columns, the edges, are carved with fruits and nuts and the spectacular ever so classic carved dolphins on the bottom base of this incredible cabinet. This cabinet has four doors with storage that have one shelf each. Two of these doors are hidden behind the columns on each side of the cabinet. This cabinet has three pull out drawers. One is a larger drawer with two smaller drawers on each side. This cabinet has a backsplash that attaches seperatly to the lower cabinet. The primary wood of this cabinet is walnut with the secondary wood being pine. This cabinet measures 77 1/2" in length or width, 65" in height, and 47 1/2" in height to the top surface of the cabinet, 33 1/2" in depth from the wall. This is a beautiful solid black walnut slant top writing desk. Circa 1810.The figured walnut top is very rich and beautiful with its grain patterns,rich walnut tones and beauty marks. I rescued this diamond in the rough. It had many many coats of white paint hiding this beautiful black walnut wood. I lovingly& meticulously hand restored this desk back to full glory. I restored the finish with many. Many coats of hand rubbed shellac, maintaining the antique warm glow, rubbed to a silky smooth yet allowing the beautiful grain textures to be felt.There was a trim around the back of the top which was missing, I custom made this new back rail trim using reclaimed 200 year old black walnut. The drawer pulls are from a 200 year old dresser and are solid walnut hand carved pulls. The harp shaped end is gorgeous as you can easily see with its ... morecone shaped finial on the end of the hand turned support which joins it to the drawer base.The slant top is fixed in position. There is no lid that lifts up, this was designed as a writing desk, dating back to the quill pen days. There is an age shrinkage split in the top which I chose not to restore. It gives great character to this lovely piece. The drawer locks are missing.I restored all the drawers, carefully taking them all apart and regluing them all and now they are rock solid and slide excellently. Full depth drawers with lots of storage.The desk is finished on all sides, allowing it to be placed anywhere in a room. The recessed flat panel sides are a great design. Adding to the beauty. I purposefully left some character marks remain in this desk such as tiny chip of wood,left top edge) pinholes etc, they give this desk awesome character, I was not trying to create a reproduction piece I try and respect the antique with all of its age, history and character. Antique Secretary, cabinet, walnut furniture, desk, 1900 darling!
Gorgeous piece. I hate to let it go, but I'm moving and need to downsize! Circa 1900 secretary I believe is walnut. maker unknown. This was more of a middle class piece rather than a fine piece in it's day, so I was told by the dealer. It is solidly constructed, and stands 93" tall including pediment. it comes apart into two pieces making it easier to move. the top cabinet with glass doors is 62" tall and is rather shallow at nine inches which is nice if you don't want too bulky a piece. the bottom stands 31" and is 18 inches deep at the top, the cabinet being 15 inches deep. it is 38" wide. With desk folded down it is 23" deep. It has some insect gouges, I guess you might call them and other flaws and some wear. Pediment has been repaired. but you can hardly tell. ANTIQUE 19th C VICTORIAN Carved Walnut Wood Crest VTG FURNITURE PARTS PEDIMENTS
ANTIQUE 19th CENTURY VICTORIAN CARVED WALUT WOOD CREST or FURNITURE PEDIMENT PARTS Two beautiful. Old, Victorian Wood Pieces that go together nicely, and form a crest, or just to use as parts. They are carved from Walnut with very ornate carved flowers and leaves that are carved all the way through. They both have a scalloped top and plain back. This was probably part of a settee or large chair, perhaps a chaise lounge, because it has holes where upholstery tacks were(see photos) Also, on each end there are holes for dowels(the photos show both pieces put together like an arch way(they would have to be doweled again or glued to stay this way) These beautiful pieces of wood each measure approximately 13 1/2" high x 12" across. So, together, they would measure about 24" across. The wood is about 1 3/16" thick. This very ... moredecorative wood is in good condition but would need some refinishing or painting and a little restoration where the dowel holes and upholstery tack holes are. There are the usual minor nicks, from age and use, but no loss to the carving. Two beautiful old pieces of Victorian craftsmanship! Being offered as is and with No Reserve. Another one of my estate sale Relics. The spindles are Black walnut.Estate fresh,and need to be refinished. The spindles don't have a finish left on them anymore. I think they would look really nice sanded,and finished with a nice dark stain with a laquer coating. There are eight spindles and they measure 23 3/4in long x 1 1/4in at the top,and 3/8ths inches at the bottom. The 23 3/4in measurement is without the dowl turning at the top. The dowl turning adds 3/4inches to the overall length,and is approx 5/8ths inches wide. total overall lenght with the dowl is 24 1/2inches. Gilded bronze hardware, great sense of taste and proportions- a real masterpiece. When we found it the bibliotheque was used as a buffet and for this transformation ... morea mirror was added to the back of the top section and the wooden shelves were replaced with two glass shelves. I am selling it as found. With one key, two glass shelves for the top section which are not original to this item, and one wooden shelf for the bottom section. However, if you want you can order an extra key for $50 and we can make wooden shelves for you if you do not want glass, which will cost $200 each. Shelves will look antique and if you do not know that they are newly made you would never believe so) For shipping purposes it will be taken apart but is easy to put together. Made of a beautiful walnut, it is of a nice weight and is sturdy. It is about 60 inches tall. It is in very good condition for its age- it does have one piece of decorative trim that is missing on the upper left(see photos) This could be replaced or you could probably remove the decorative trim from both sides if you want to even it up. There is one small area of old scratches in the wood on the second to bottom shelf.see last picture) I consider this very minor. I believe it is the original finish and it is in great condition. ANTIQUE SOLID WALNUT HAND CARVED FURNITURE PEDIMENT PIECES
Up for bid is several pieces of an antique solid walnut furniture pediment or gallery from a Victorian or Eastlake era piece of furniture. The pieces are primitively hand carved as well as hand made. And although there are a few missing pieces, there do seem to be enough to create a nice gallery around the top of a bureau, buffet, dresser, and/or etc. The pieces are approximately 1/2" in thickness by an overall length for the longest center piece of about 21" On some pieces there is carving on both sides. My guess is the carver was practicing or was doing"do overs" in order to get the best look that they wanted to achieve before finishing the piece. The top center carving piece does have a chip or missing piece of wood, though it does not take away from the overall glamour of the pieces. A nice grouping of carvings for ... morethe restoration project or perhaps a new project awaiting just the right selection of carvings. American country furniture Victorian Walnut..antique nightstand table c.1875
Gorgeous Solid walnut antique nightstand Own some American History.no doubt made by an American country craftsman Circa 1850-1895 Beautiful original drawer ring pull.notice the fine details in the back plate.the pull has a great naturally aged& worn patina! I restore fine antiques and this lovely nightstand/table was in need of some meticulous restoration.I restored it from top to bottom and added some custom touches along the way! The legs are no doubt hand made/turned.they are beautiful What I love the most about this piece is the rich walnut wood.the wood is actually about 350-400 years old considering when it was cut down to make this table.the graining is spectacular I restored the finish entirely by hand. Just like when it was made.I hand scraped and sanded the failed original finish.then hand rubbed many, many coats of varnish ... morewhich showcases the wood and protects it as well. The hand scraping and sanding is labor intense but provides the most stunning look when restored! The finish is silky smooth but you can still feel the walnut grains/pores just as I designed the finish! I resecured the original loose top with screws& added the twelve antique walnut pegs around the top.it looks superb and add architectural detail! The stretcher/rung which connects the stretcher/rungs on the lower part of the legs I custom made and added the antique walnut pegs over the screw holes.the table had a shelf on the lower portion originally.it was missing& I added the custom stretcher/rung.it blends in perfectly with the overall design of the table The drawer slides like silk since being fully restored. It is a quaint detail, perfect for storing small items.it gives great beauty to the table The wood is spectacular solid American Black Walnut.it has lots of character marks straight from the tree.
