An interesting map showing Texas and California as part of Mexico, large Oregon, Mandan District, Indian Territory, Wisconsin Territories and other details. Texas appears on the map and in the inset clearly defined by International borders as it existed durint its period as a Republic. Size: The image area measures 10 1/2 by 16 1/2 inches(27x42cm) within the neat lines and the entire page measures 12 by 19(35x50cm) as seen in the pic. Condition: It is in Fair to Good condition printed on a light buff page. Blank on the reverse with original handcoloring and a centerfold as issued. It is basically as seen in the pics. There is some handling smudges, backprinting, slightly bent corners and an inch split along the bottom of the centerfold, see the pics form more on condition. Overall, it does have a strong impression with nice color with a desireable antique appearance that would frame up very well. Pics are of the actual map and accurate of the color. It is from Colton's General Atlas. Published in New York by the Colton& Co. 1865, although the map has a copyright date of 1855 printed on the map states as"Entered according to Act of Congress in the Year 1855 by J.H. Colton in the Clerks Office of the District Court of the United States. Colton used the earlier copyright on his later maps for this atlas, although the printing plates were regularly revised to reflect the constantly changing state of the world. A facsimile copy of the title page ... morewill also be included for authenticity. The map is not mounted, matted nor framed, being sold as a large double page folio sheet as shown in the main pic. Overall, a beautiful rare map with nice color that would frame up nicely. A nice map showing Wyoming as an extension of Dakota, Indian Territory Texas, as well as the Pony Express Route, Santa Fe Trail, Southern Mail Route and other interesting details. Size: The map image measures approximately 16 1/2 by 27 1/2 inches(40x68cm) on a 17 1/4 by 28" 44x71cm) page with a margin all around for framing as seen in the pic. Condition: The map is in Very Good condition with overall light tonal aging and original hand coloring and a centerfold as issued. There is a slight split of about an inch and a half at the top of the centerfold. Slight folds on the corners in margin, light wear on the edges, and some minor handling around the margins as seen in the pics, otherwise it is very clean with no distracting defects to mention, see the pics for more on condition.
