Part of the U.S. Capitol land is on the bottom right of the map. This area has changed a bit, as Louisiana Avenue now runs from Pennsylvania Avenue halfway between 2nd and 1st Streets and runs across North Capital Street at Indiana Avenue. Parts of Area 633 on this map are part of that road and the bottom portion is now the Robert E. Taft Memorial and Carillon. Part of Indiana Avenue now runs underground into the 3rd Street Tunnel at C Street It runs under the U.S. Employment and Training Administration Building, which now takes up all of Areas 573 and 574. The Passenger Station for the B&O Railroad is now apart of Union Station and this area now houses the Japanese American Memorial. This map measures approximately 28 1/2 x 22 1/2 inches. Pink/brick building, yellow/frame building, if it looks like an envelope/a stable or shed, and black& white dotted/green house etc. Map in generally good condition(not perfect but pretty nice condition) Some browning and small chips or creases at edges. Map is blank on the reverse side. There is a crease up the middle where it was originally bound. The map has some small tears and chips around the edges.

In the Hawaiian group, prepared for the 1900 Report of the Governor of the Territory of Hawaii to the Secretary of the Interior. Though the cartographic work that produced this map was started in 1878, during the Hawaiian Monarchy, the map itself, and the report that contained it, was issued following the U.S. Government's 1898 annexation of the Hawaiian Republic. The Report was an attempt to assess and examine the newly created Hawaiian Territory's potential for proper administration and development. Consequently the map focuses on Public Lands, Homestead Settlement Tracts, Grazing Lands, Pineapple Lands, Sugar Plantations, Forest Reserves, Forest Lands, Wet Lands, etc. It also features both practical and topographic details for use in administering the region. The governor at this time was George R. Carter. The primary triangulation for this map was accomplished by J. F. Brown and M. D. Monsarrat. The survey work was done by Walter E. Wall and Fred E. It is printed on an"onion skin" type paper, and is hand colored. The map states: Entered by an Act of Congress, 10th July 1818, and published by John Melish, improved to 1820. John Melish was one of the early American premier mapmakers of this period. This map includes Texas, and is probably one of the earliest maps to show the new Texas borders, accepted by the US from the Treaty signed 22 Feb. 1819. It is engraved by Samuel Harrison. The map has retained most of its original folds, but has been misfolded in the past. The map has no corner loss, as it may look in the photo; it is folded back.The book is complete, along with the 4 full page maps of Philadelphia, New York, Baltimore and Boston, see photos. Map is signed/dated November 1. 1869. Map is about 28 by 55 inches covering from Atlantic to the Pacific. Map is backed with and archival type sheet. Map has browning along fold lines. There are few wrinkles, especially along the fold lines supported by the archival backing. There is a tear to Longitude 112 on the bottom of the sheet and a tear into the Oregon area with damage to four corner folds in Oregon and Idaho and another spot in Idaho. There is a pencil notations on the reverse in the lower right corner. Some territories and states are colored. The map has a colored legend for Land Offices. Here is an old 1894 map of The United States& territories with adjacent parts of Canada& Mexico. Also part of the West India Islands. It shows Indian. Military& Forest Reservations, Railroads, Canals etc. Compiled from the official Surveys of the General Land Office. The map is approximately 5" x 7" It is old and worn with some rips and discoloration. It is made of some kind of old paper material. Please see pictures for details I may have missed.
