This is a large 1888 map of the United States. It measures 14 X 20 inches. It is quite detailed. Showing the topography, towns, transportation lines as they existed in 1888. This map is wax engraved and was issued as part of the Rand McNally Business Atlas. This map is genuine. Not a copy or reprint. It may have few minor handling flaws as to be expected in a map this age and large. This map shows its age as the paper has a light brownish hue in the margins along with a few light age spots. Will look fantastic matted and framed. We take special care in shipping these maps as there are no replacements. Close up to show detail. Another close up.

1848"Western Territories of the United States" by D. F. Robinson. Copyrighted 1847 and believed to be the second in this series published in 1848. Territories. States and areas shown in full or partial are: a greatly reduced Texas, Nebraska, Indian Ter. Iowa, Minnesota, California, Utah, New Mexico, and Oregon. Area covered includes Montana, Wyoming Oregon, Washington, Idaho, South Dakota, North Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Utah, Nevada, California, New Mexico, Arizona and Oklahoma. Map size is about 11 by 17 inches and richly colored. Map in good shape. It does not have the usual staining along the fold. Stains are 1) black ink spots in Nebraska. 2) small water stain in Oregon taking out a little of Champooing and the area right above it, 3) stain at the neat line near the Oregon coast, 4) stains in New Mexico and Utah, 5) smudges ... morein Indian Ter. and 6) four weak pencil lines through southern Nebraska and into Indian Ter. one erased? Some color fading in Minnesota. The stains and pencil lines have little affect on the map except the one in Oregon. The map has been in a matted frame and in shrink wrap for over 30 years and I do not want to remove it unless it is sold. There are probably dirty or smudges along the edges of the sheet. The hand wash coloring is very good and the map is very clean for this map with the notations above. Colorado is part of Utah. New Mexico and Nebraska. Wyoming part of Nebraska, Utah and Oregon. An 1847 version of this map is also being offered with the tall Texas stovepipe at the same time. Map will be removed from the matting and rolled in thick Mylar plastic and placed in a tube/box for shipping with the seller paying for insurance and tracking. If wanted to remain in the mat and shrink wrap I can do separate invoice adding $10.00 for shipping carton. If knowing the condition of the edges and the back is important I will open it up and send/add more photos/description if I have at least one days notice before the end of the auction. Morgan Map of 1851 of New York and the Indian territories of 1720
Found this map in an old roll top desk with the latest item dated 1866. This map had been folded up at the bottom of the drawer with other maps and newspapers and is in pristine condition. It is bright and vibrant I put it in a frame so as to protect the paper It will be shipped without the frame so as to save on postage. It needs to be professionally framed this is a museum peice.

Ca. 1820-37 by Andriveau-Goujon Original outline hand color. Fine and uncommon old map of Eastern United States. Of note for the possible revision of an earlier plate. Tooley's Dictionary of Mapmakers notes that the firm was located at the address given within the imprint from 1805-20. However. At the very bottom of the imprint, in tiny numbers, is 1837. This would appear to indicate the possibility that an earlier plate was used in the making of this map, being revised to bring it up to date in 1837. Either way, the profusion of interior details are fascinating for the era and worthy of further investigation and study. Some of these details include numerous ... moreNative American"Districts" north of Texas. These include vast regions(Districts) labelled for use by tribes such as Ozark. Osage, Mandan, Sioux and Hurons as well as"Territory of Arkansas" Territory of Michigan" This precise assortment of configurations only appears for a very brief passing moment in cartographic history and is particularly well seen in detail here. A picture is worth a thousand words. The photos are a major part of the item description. Please examine them closely. Some light age wear or surface spotting/ soiling which is visible within the scan. Paper and image remains overall clean& sound. Old maps& prints often display small minor repairs on the back.
