They may also be discolored or mottling spots again due to the acidity of the paper. The borders of the maps may also have small tears. The map is very detailed, with the period named railroads, cities, towns, villages, and much more of this era, the detail is fascianting. The handcoloring on the map is period, this is before color printing became widely available. The map is from the rare 1871 Walling and Gray Atlas of Massachusetts.
