It is from Colton's General Atlas. Published in New York by the Colton& Co. 1874, although the map has a copyright date of 1855 printed on the map stated as"Entered according to Act of Congress in the Year 1855 by J.H. Colton in the Clerks Office of the District Court of the United States. Colton used the earlier copyright on his later maps for this atlas, although the printing plates were regularly revised to reflect the constantly changing state of the world. The map is not mounted, matted nor framed, being sold as a single elephant size folio sheet as shown in the main pic. Overall, a beautiful rare map with nice color that would frame up nicely. Condition: The map is in Very Good or better condition with overall light tonal aging and original hand coloring as issued. Other than some light darkening around the edges and a couple of minor random spots as typical of antique maps.
