Wenham & Cove Village map - 1872 D. G. Beers Atlas - Essex County Massachusetts
This is an original handcolored page(95) from the 1872 Beers atlas of Essex County. Massachusetts. It shows the township and village of Wenham(as well as the Wenham Business Directory) as well as the village of Cove Village. Map is matted and shrink-wrapped with a cardboard(possibly thin foam board) backer. Mat window opening is about 12 by 15 inches; the overall size is about 16 by 20 inches. Handcoloring seems a bit faded, but the page is in otherwise very nice condition. The map came to me matted and shrink-wrapped, and is ready for framing and display. If you live in Wenham or Cove Village, this would be a nice'local history' map for display. Perhaps if you live in an older home, your house is represented on the map! The map measures approx 62 inches by 62 inches There are significant condition issues with the map. Please read following and note photos. This map is over 150 years old. The overall condition of the map is acceptable with standard uniform discoloration if varnish. And significant crackling or creasing. The major issues are in the upper portion of the map. In the top right corner there is a 4" by 4" area that has suffered significant loss and has almost completely deteriorated. ... moreIt is not in a map area, it is where there was a picture of city hall in Newburyport. c. 1880 Colored ESSEX COUNTY, Mass. Folding Map by H.F. Walling
This offering is a folding map of Essex County. Massachusetts we date as c. 1880. Out flat the map measures 21 1/2 X 24 3/4" including the borders. Without the borders the map is 18 X 22" The map scale is 2 1/2 miles to the inch and encompassses not only Essex County but also Boston, part of Norfolk and Middlesex Counties. The map folds down to 3 3/4 X 8 1/4" The map is backed with stiff cloth. Nicely colored the map is splitting at the folds. You can see it in one of my pictures. There are not any creases in evidence but the splitting is there and you will probably want to have it repaired. We will package it well. Domestic postage is included in our price.

Up for sale is an old and original two-sided map from the 1872 Beers Atlas. On one side is Wakefield. Massachusetts; on the other side are two maps, one of Melrose, Massachusetts, and the other of Greeenwood, part of Wakefield. The full size Wakefield map measures 16 x 23 1/2" And features Quannapowitt Lake. Crystal Lake, Lakeside Cemetery, Old Cemetery, the Boston Ice Company, the Boston& Maine Railroad, and several schools and churches. Prominent estate landowners include Cyrus Wakefield. Mansfield, Wright, White, Evans and Nichols. Several other properties have the names of the owners. On back of this map are two maps.
