A hand made confection consisting of embroidered tulle with gold metallic thread representing a Martin bird in the center and lots of flowers buds scattered all over. The tablecloth has a gorgeous scalloped edge. I spread it on a white tablecloth so you can see the details. Measurements:45"x 44.5" Condition: The tablecloth is in overall good condition for it's age.But please note that the tulle has some pin size holes a couple of loose threads. An unusual table runner from the 1920's. This runner has a very exotic look. Size- LARGE! 19" x 68" The runne ris made of beige linen fabric. It was heavily machine-embroidered in metallic& cotton thread. Heavily" is an understatement- almost every inch of the top is embroidered. There is alot of old gold metallic- ... moreeven the colored sections(blue.Dark cream, rust) had metallic threads. The desing is intricate- it looks as if it was probably made in the Middlle East or Turkey. Crescent moons, paisley shapes, stylized flowers. Border desisgns look as if they might be Arabic lettering. The outer border is a band of dark beige unembroidered linen. The runner is trimmed w/a 1/2" trim of metallic old gold trim. No labels nor markings. Condition- no rips nor holes in the fabric. No missing embroidery However. This textile is 90 years old& it does have some age. The metallic thread has darkened considerably over the decades. Although, it was never a bright gold color- it was an old gold/Roman gold shade. There is some light spotting on the linen border. Lovely old French Bullion trim in"old world gold" color. There are 2 layers of metallic trim here. One is bullion and the other is a wider vestment trim hand sewn to the bullion. Very aged with a wonderful Goth/ Grunge look. Over 7 feet in length, actual yardage is 2 yards plus 15 inches. I've shown you photos with and without flash to help you get an idea of what this really looks like. Overall good condition. A few very minor kinks in metal and a couple strands of missing bullion. Offered for sale is this vintage Chinese square embroidered panel. It was probably made around 50 to 60 years ago. The dragon was used thick gold metallic thread plus red. Green and black silk thread embroidered on silk. This square panel has brocade bands and borders. It is old but very clean. It is in excellent condition. DESCRIPTION: 7 photos. Top quality antique French metallic tulle lace measures 5 1/2 inches wide x 27 inches long. Gorgeous piece in wonderful condition with only a very tiny line slit of 3/8" hidden in the busy pattern. It's not a hole. But a straight slit which you have to hunt to find. Real metal threading on this so there's some light patina transfer onto the tulle from the metals(and when this lace was folded over the years, some light transferring as well) Lovely antique-beige coloring. Each little dot has a circle of metal thread around it. This is a fabulous early Religious relique and example of(I believe) early Spanish decorative arts metal work. This piece was evaluated by a major auction house in the 1980's as being 18th century(along with a silver chalice cover which has already sold) From the limited research I've done. I would suspect it may be 17th century or earlier. These embroideries were used on various religious christian(mainly catholic) ceremonial garments and cloths representing the"lamb of god" There is further reading here if you'd like to learn more ... moreThe striking thing about this piece vs others I've seen sold is the silver portions of the lamb on this one are done in an intricate repouse as opposed to flat metal work. Leading me to believe this is an older and obviously more intricate piece. Not definitive research to be sure. But certainly enough to raise question to the actual age of this piece and warrant further research. It's been very interesting to study. This is an important historic piece and irreplaceable. It measures approx 6 inches length. 2-3/4 inches wide and about 1/2 inche thick or"in height" There is no reserve beyond the opening bid. Please see all of the pictures. Very good condition for the age of this item. Some minor losses to the"wool" on the lamb and some loose threads. Trim as shown.
