Antique Vintage Mass Vestments
I got this beautiful old Mass vestment for a stipend from a church that was modernizing their vestment wardrobe back around 1975. I had the idea of using it as a wall decoration. It has been stored ever since in waterproof. Dust proof plastic. The pictures do not do justice to the extravagant gold thread embroidery that extends over the entire surface of the vestments. In flash photos it reflects light like a mirror partially obliterating the lovely green material underneath. There is no fraying, physical or material damage to any of the articles. There are a couple of small wine stains on the back side of the chalice cover, and the lace at the neck inside the chasuble and the neck of the stole has some very light colored perspiration stain, but the lace is undamaged.

A gently used vintage antique white chasuble vestment with matching understole and stole. Material is like a heavy weight cotton. For those cool evenings on Spring. Fall and Winter Boy Scouts Jamborees. The Jesuit priest who owned this set was actually a member of the BSA Order of the Arrow. The vestment measures approximately, Front- 42 inches long and Back- 44 inches long. Width approximately 56 inches. It is made of a red silk damask weave brocade fabric with a woven floral pattern. Colorful chain stitch embroidery work done in a floral fancy rococo design and gold metallic lamé trim edging, creating a cross on the back. This religious Catholic priests vestment chasuble has a loose fitting poncho style with open sides and is fully lined. The chasuble measures 37 inches long and 26 inches wide. It is in good as-is condition, with a few frayed splits and mended repairs on the silk(see close-up) This is truly a wonderful antique religious textile!
