Overall condition is good antique(see below, and pics) The embroidery is blue and that gives the overall color but the base fabric when you look at it is green. The ophreys are beautifully embroidered. Label indicates that it was made in France. Apologies for the poor quality of the photos. And please feel free to ask for more or any other details. Please note the following before bidding or buying this item: 1) The INNER lining of the back of the chasuble is faded– some minor fading can also be seen along the outer bottom of the back of the vestment as well(it appears a little silvery in the second photo- this is NOT the band that appears across the vestment in the first photo. Which is due to the light) Please look well at the photos. 2) There is very minor damage around the cross on the burse– it is noticeable if one looks closely. I have not tried to clean it for fear of damaging the vestment. But my guess it is that it could be. 3) The"tapes"ribbons to fasten the chasuble around the waist. It has separated along the left fold, and it shows some creasing and wear like small rips along the edges. But for a 90 year old piece of music, it's not in bad shape. Beautiful antique Belgian stole. Cream coloured silk with gold coloured appliques. The appliques of the cross and flower motif are padded and covered with gold metallic threads. The stole has a gold metallic trim and gold bullion fringe. The stole is lined with a red material. At the end is written Maurice't Kint 1939. Probably one of the users of this nice stole. To complete this lovely stole. There is a pair of nice gold tassels attached on the front edge. The stole is in a very good condition. Only some traces of the removal of a white loose collar. It is made of cream silk and is profusely decorated with goldwork and silk embroidery. Many of the motifs are thickly padded and covered with gold wire of different textures. And embroidery silk in lovely subtle shading. The stole is edged with metallic gold trim and has a metallic bullion fringe. Sadly it would appear that this lovely item has not been stored well. Because there are areas where it has probably been folded, and then the silk and embroidery has rubbed. Group of EMBROIDERED ANTIQUE VESTMENTS Chasuble Stole Maniple Borse Altar Cover
Swank Vintage Presents a lot of antique vestments I am very pleased to be able to offer this lot of divine antique vestments. All were found in Paris(France) though I cannot be sure of their original origins. I am also unsure about their age. But an estimation puts them in the 19th century. The finest of the lot are the 3 piece set of gorgeous silk brocade. The main color is a rich cherry red silk with incredible metallic gold florals throughout. The trimmings are beautiful metallic gold. There are clusters of little circles and leaves, perhaps a grape motif. The gold is so gold, one may call it cloth of gold. The fringes are very fine gold, that have the feel of metal. It would seem the fabric was woven specially to become this Chasuble as the gold patterns flow perfectly. The center of the front is adorned with extremely fine embroidery. ... moreAnd set with gold sequins. The dove in the center was worked in metallic silver threads. Each tiny feather was constructed with great care and skill. The detail is incredible, right down to the tiny ruby red eye. The set consists of one Chasuble. One Stole and a Maniple all matching. The Chasuble has an area where wax had splattered a bit. And a few, small scattered stains. Email me if you wish to see these minor areas of note. The Stole and Maniple show minor wear. The linings are white silk with a light squiggling pattern in relief. The linings have light stains. The main part of the Chasuble measures 46" x 25" The Maniple is 34" long by 8" wide The stole is 86" long by 9" wide. Not counting the fringe The lot also will include an altar covering. Also most likely 19th century, also found in Paris. The fabric is white sot with gold threads. The trim is metallic gold, the fringe are gold metal. The central area is adorned with the ten commandments in relief. Applique onto the cloth, surrounded by rays of sequins on top of gold cloth also applique to the cloth. Lovely Antique Cope Vestment with Stole
Lovely Antique Cope Vestment with Stole This is a very nice antique cope. It is in great condition. It is made of a very nice watered silk material and comes with a matching stole. The cope is in great condition and have a lovely"hood" on the back with a traditional style banding and an IHS Applique. The banding on the back and the front are both very detailed. There is a very nice brass clip to hold the vestment together in the front with and A for Alpha on one side and an upside down U for Omega on the other clip. The stole is very nice with a gold cord and tassel to hold it in the middle. There is very nice gold fringe on the hood that matches the fringe on the stole. This is a lovely antique stole which although was made in France(it has a Toulouse shop label) has embroidery which I think is very reminiscent of the style of Charles Rennie Mackintosh/Glasgow School. The stole is edged with a beautiful metallic and silk trim. The sides are joined by a gold cord with gold wire covered tassels, and each end of the stole is decorated with a gold bullion fringe. Fabulous Antique Stole with Super Embroidery. Reversible Cream/Red. This is a fabulous antique 19th century French stole. It is completely reversible. One side is cream silk the other side is red silk. Both sides have some lovely embroidery. The cream side is embroidered with crowns and Sacred Hearts. Worked in gold wire thread and fine silks, and decorated with gold metal discs. The red side has fleur-de-lys and intricate Cross/Crown of Thorns motifs, there are worked in cloth of gold and gold embroidery, plus gold metal discs. The edges of the stole are joined with a gold cord with gold wire covered tassels. And are decorated with a metallic gold trim. The ends of the stole have a gold bullion fringe. Beautiful Antique Green Chasuble and Stole for Mass This is an antique green chasuble and stole set for the celebration of the Mass. It is in good condition with very little wear. The material is of a kelly green that is much more Roman than the darker forest green color that is often produced today. The back is embroidered with a cross that is composed of flowers with the iconic IHS in the center. The front is a simple pillar composed in the same theme as the back. There are two strings that are used to secure the vestment around the waist of the priest. The matching stole is in very good condition and its adorned with metallic fringe on the bottom. It has a sewn cloth around the neck to absorb any sweat that may damage the material. The only sign of age and wear is found on the front between the embroidered part of the vestment. The cloth ... moreis slightly distressed and is beginning to fray. This can be seen in the photos 6& 7 provided above. Aside from this. The lining is in excellent condition for its age. Late 19th century hand sewn Fiddleback Chasuble(from Casula. Meaning little tent) with matching Chalice Pall and Stole. The items are all handsewn, top surface is crushed velvet(purple) and the reverse is silk. The orphery is a gold colored brocade with metalic thread interwoven, hand stitched. All three pieces, the Chasuble, Chalice Pall and Stole have similiar material, stitching and broccade except the Stole has metallic spring-like fringes. Dimensions: The Chasuble is overall length approximately 75" x 25-1/4" wide. One side is silk cloth of gold. With elaborate raised goldwork motifs. The other side is soft purple silk. Embroidered in silks and decorated with silver sequins. The edges of the stole are joined by a metallic gold cord. With two superb metallic tassels which have bullion fringes with thickly coiled wire'caterpillars' The bullion fringe at the bottom of the stole also has these'caterpillars' The gold side of the stole is edged with metallic trim.
