Lovely vintage heavy damask( I believe is silk) tabernacle veil with silk velvet and silver embroidery on the front. The red velvet ribbon with the silver thread is very attractive. This piece does have some wear around the top opening-see photos- and it has a few spots where there is candle wax on it. This was possibly handmade by the church ladies or nuns. Super cool! LARGE Antique Church VESTMENT DECOR The Mother In Brocade, Gold, Velvet & Silk
Measures aprox 104" long by 22" wide A lovely church tapestry. Might be an altar piece or a vestment. Features- gold metallic threading make up the tastes and ornate brocade work; stunning rich blue velvet. Silk background textile with jacked gold pattern. Backside is a blue silk with two long pockets. This backside fabric has some thinning which can be seen through. A original tag reads"Philippe Kunstenaar& Co. New York- Paris- Lyon made in France. Ornate metal hooks in gold are sewn on in two places. May be a way to tie on the piece and wear it.one of them needs to be sewn back on as it is loose. Condition is quite good- again backside liner has thinning to liner fabric. A few tassels have the blue thread that binds them loose or missing.
